So, friends...what's the plan for getting through the upcoming Sugarfest holiday?
I'm not buying candy.

I'm curious also what people are planning on doing. I so far am THINKING of giving myself a "holiday" from low carb on Thanksgiving and Christmas. As I do the major cooking for both holidays and do ALL the sweets, cookies, cakes, etc it seems like so far its my best option. I have decided though to make quite a few of the "goodies" with splenda or truvia as I use both for myself right now. So what else are folks doing? I'm being curious and nosy at the same time.

I just came up with my plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas yesterday. I plan on having an actual food plan ready to go so that I know my options. I will figure out the carb counts on all of my food in advance to dinnertime (which is easier since I am the one cooking), that way I will be able to count it up as I put it on my plate. Everything will be entered into Fat Secret, no matter how small it may seem. I plan on eating a little of a lot, not a lot of a little. I want to feel satisfied with what I eat and not left craving something. Sweets tend to upset my stomach now that I am eating LCHF, so I will save room for only one small slice of pumpkin pie. I will also stay full on lots of water, and then spend some of my time walking. I also plan to get plenty of sleep and try to stay stress free, since I eat when I am tired and stressed. I am actually excited about the upcoming holidays because I think that it will show me a true reflection of where I am at in my journey.

I'm permitted cheat days on my diet, and for me they fall on Saturdays, so I'm all set for Halloween. Love Mousy's tips for the other food holidays, though. DH and I discussed moving our cheat day to Thanksgiving Day that week, except that traditionally I make another meal on Friday (because I am a better cook than my parents, who we celebrate Thanksgiving with). Christmas is also double duty, as we do traditional Mexican Christmas Eve (tamales, hot chocolate, sweets, etc.) with my family, but then I also make a gourmet meal for just our little family on Christmas Day (like prime rib or beef wellington). Still have to sort that out....

Nope, Halloween candy is not being bought by me! If I want chocolate that badly, I make sure I have the room in my DRI #, and buy one pack of my favorite kind, (I have a addiction to Peanut butter M&M's) and that's all! Naked Popcorn w/lime and salt is my go-to when I'm watching movies with friends.

Candy bought early, now I'm out of town so it will be dropped at local dentist office when I return for Operation Candy Buyback -- I'll get $1/lb., and the candy gets sent to troops overseas.

I bought candy for trick-or-treaters that I don't like personally, otherwise I am planning on making low carb cranberry sauce and low carb pumpkin something to bring along for thanksgiving, Christmas however WILL be a cheat day for me.... :)

I'm going to treat it like any other day and find something besides candy to celebrate with. Can't go wrong with guacamole and unbreaded hot wings!

I will be watching T.v next to my babies....oh I don't get kids because of them, for some reason people are afraid of dobermans, and they love kids(not to eat honest) so it will be a quiet night home alone with them. (:

Trash can once the little brats have come through. I usually just start dumping bowls come the end of the whole thing into kids bags. I feel horrible doling out white sugar. I guess it's better than getting the place tarred and feathered. I think AmberLaine and Philmck may have an idea there. No candy though. Maybe bbq ribs.

Stupid, socialist holiday.

If I want candy I buy a bar of the expensive luxury candy and enjoy it. Leave the cheap candy and cookies for the kids on most days.

The Halloween candy we pass out is the mini portions. I allow myself to have one or two pieces. Pigging out on candy has not been a problem...
