That is awesome... my job typically gives us an hour lunch "break" I literally eat my lunch as I work everyday. On nice days I think I will take a walk around the building complex outside for the extra activity. And 1.69 miles is pretty awesome!!! Keep it up

Great way to use your lunch time, and sounds like a nice place to walk!

STT - I always enjoy your cheery remarks. It is a beautiful park, especially this time of year with all the wild flowers in bloom. I am very lucky to work so close to it. Enjoy your weekend too.

Rockie - Yes! Don't understand why it took me so long to get around to using it? Procrastination is not my friend.

Panigale - I feel your pain. I am supposed to get an hour but when things get busy there are many days I don't get to leave the building. Lately I've been trying to sneak out before anyone has a change to ask me to do anything else.

That's great! I don't do the smartphone thing, but I probably should, if for no other reason than to do the nutrition and walk stuff. :)

Darlene - Nice to hear from you. I know you work in construction too. Do you get to walk during your lunch?

Lucy - I have a love/hate relationship with my smart phone. It is 2015 and I am still lost in the 90's - LOL.

JMB - I think it will be a great tool to encourage me to walk farther, faster, etc.

Walks are refreshing for the mind and body. Most days I use my lunch break to walk, inside if the weather is bad and recently been going outside. In December we moved to new large facility including a warehouse and production center so I can just lap all the halls and aisles, do 3 miles in 45 or 50 minutes. It's next to a nature preserve, don't know if there are trails there but I'm going to check it out, if not it's still a nice walking the perimeter of the County property. Often I see deer, turkey, and geese. My stepdaughter in Buffalo uses something similar to what you have on her phone, might be the same thing, it even posts her excursions to facebook. Anything that helps keep us motivated is a good thing.

I might load that one. Would be interesting on doggie walks around the neighbor hood and the park trails behind my house. We get 1/2 hour break, nearly impossible to eat while talking on the phone so I use my lunch break to eat, no walks for me on lunch.

Wholefoodnut - There has been more than one time I've choked down a bite of lunch to answer the phone - LOL

UPDATE: I had to go to Wal-Mart at lunch time today, and just for kicks and giggles, turned the App on in the parking lot. I got .49 miles in just for shopping.

It's amazing how much walking you get in when you are shopping...in the mall or up and down the aisles of a store like Wal Mart...I try to start at one end of the store and weave through every aisle to the other end, even if I don't need to visit every aisle to get what I need. I should upload the app...I would love to experiment with the things I do on a daily basis!
