Fasting - Have you done it & what happened?
I started intermittent fasting the last month and a half or so.
How I have been doing it is- Wake up at 7:00am, glass of water, walk dogs, make bullet proof coffee ( about 1 TBS of coconut oil and butter) which holds me off until around 12-2pm depending on how I feel that day. Sometimes I do regular coffee with a dash of cashew milk and that holds me until 12pm which I have my first meal. I eat my first meal at around 12-1 then a snack around 4 and then dinner around 6-7pm. I dont eat until the next day around 12. I know some people say to avoid the coffee or bullet proof coffee during the fasting window...but I have went from 173-to 164 doing this. So this works for me.

any toning tips?
I use to have what a black girl called a "pancake ass" I was skinny fat about 4 years ago.
Now I have a perky round butt that is NOT a pancake... how I did it? LIFTING! I have been lifting consistently close to a year now.. it will be a year this mid July. I lift 3 times a week.. about an hour each time. So yeah...lift lift lift

alchohol and diet
I agree with the tapering off. I actually BARELY drank unless it was a special occasion. Today I enjoy wine with my boyfriend from time to time. Try drinking lighter beers less often or enjoying some wine ? stick to just 1 time a week and then only on occasion like 4th of July or a birthday party

Convenient Foods
Wow interesting arguments. Learn something new everyday. And good food for thought. One thing I must say its never as simple as calories in and calories out. Yes I agree you need a deficit to lose weight but Mark Sisson wrote a good article on this:
http://www.marksdailyapple.com/7-common-calorie-myths-we-should-all-stop-believing/#axzz45nsZmXWs

He has a few other articles about calories and how the context of calories changes for different foods. Pretty interesting.

I myself log food for the heck of it and to learn what I range day to day. But I don't obsess over it.

Convenient Foods
Apparently it is more expensive to be over weight as well. I think I buy less whole foods because it fills me up and lasts longer
