HCB's Journal, 03 February 2015

Greetings my Buddies:

I got to
Orange Theory Fitness this morning after a couple rest days - I had the stuffed nose, sore throat event this weekend. I dragged a little this morning but feel so good I went and did it.

And, my friends, I am not uninformed about LCHF - Keto stuff...I download books to my iPod and listen. Right now I am learning from a book called, "KetoClarity" with lots of information about studies and words from doctors who are proponents of the ketogenic way of eating.

The second book is called, "The Big Fat Surprise: Why butter, cheese and meat belong in a healthy diet."

Anyone else read these books? Real interesting stuff...and of course I love "Grain Brain" by Dr. Perlmutter.

The words of the week
: Stick to the plan!

I am dedicated, determined, and diligent.

I have The Keto Clarity in my book list on my Kindle to read. I have a line up of "ketogenic-type" books to read up on once I get off my Fast Metabolism Diet kick.

The Keto Clarity book is pretty good. But I found going extremely low carb was tough on my thyroid. Did some searching and found if you have hypothyroid, it can stress your adrenals too much to go too low carb. Added back some starchy veggies and felt much, much better. The Big Fat Surprise is wonderful! Loved reading that book. Lots of the back story about how we got to the place we are right now with our dietary recommendations. Good follow up to Gary Taubes books, "Good Calories, Bad Calories", which is a bit heavy, and "Why We Get Fat and What to Do About It", which is more readable, but still has the science. Look forward to your reviews!
