HCB's Journal, 02 February 2015

Hey Buddies:

So, it seems I am moving toward the LCHF ketogenic approach while staying within a Paleo guideline of no grains
and no dairy.

It blows my mind how much fat one should consume to get in, and stay in, ketosis. I am eating healthy fats, trying to keep my protein up above 100grams per day and net carbs under 40grams - and lower as I get better accustomed to the process - hoping to adjust to maybe net carbs 30grams.

Today my fat grams are around 70 - which is like 50% of my macros! I am excited to see where this new approach takes me!

The words of the week:
Stick to the plan!

I am dedicated, determined, and diligent.

I follow the high protein, lower carbs and fats plan but not tracking the LCHF ketogenic approach. I will follow you to see how it works for ya! It would scare me to do that much in fat in a day but I understand there is a different in the types of fats you put in your body.

My son and I started the ketogenic diet to take off some "bulk" and it worked! You have to be very strict and not deviate at all from the plan. But, it's kinda funny. My son had more "fat" to loose and in 3 weeks he lost 18 lbs. I on the other hand lost only 7lbs BUT lost a ton of inches. Either way we called it a win, win situation. Big benefit, learning how bad sugar is for our bodies, good carbs (complex carbohydrates) go a ton farther (when you are eating carbs) and how much ENERGY you have when eating a tons of fat and protein! Good luck HCB!

I highly recommend that you check out http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/ for the wealth of information that it provides for LCHF/Keto. They have a very supportive community over there and plenty of links and recipes specifically for LCHF/keto. I visit it in tandem with this site daily. Perhaps you will find it as helpful as I do!

Exactly what BQE stated is everyone is different. What works well for others sometimes doesn't work as well for you personally. You might want to find your own LCHF and set it to your body.I for instance am a bigger guy so I require more calories and fat is high calorie. So I can take in more fat and avoid more carbs. So I adjusted mine to higher fat and it has worked wonders for me. Check out the Mayo Clinic online. I researched LCHF there and learned alot about the diet :)

HCB, this is my first time going full fat with LCHF, I can relate to the instinct that says avoid fats, it's programming we have to overcome, I am amazed at the high energy level I currently have, I have no choice but to get up and move, I have too much energy to sit still! If I had this much energy ten years ago, I would never have regained all of this weight. I am so glad that I was able to set aside my fear of eating fat and give this plan a good honest effort, it has SO been worth it!

welcome to the high HFLC world! It has been a success for me against 'diabesity' and I believe my brain tumor. For me the key is to make and have on hand freindly snacks, desserts and breads. Recipes abound on the interwebs. I like Peter Attia's site ( http://eatingacademy.com ) and the University of Würzburg has a very easy to follow pdf handbook. just google: ketogenic_en-1-cancer.pdf... richard

Just think of the healthy Eskimos who dine on blubber! It is only when they get "civilized food" that they succumb to dietary diseases.

Yum - whale blubber! LOL! That is something I don't see marketed anywhere. :)
