Good Morning, FS Warriors! Up at 3:30 this morning for a threshold run of 4.0 miles with a one mile warm up and one mile cool down for a total of 6 miles. What's a threshold run? For me, at this stage in my training, it's one mile intervals at a fast pace with 60 second rests in between. I didn't want to get up, much less run fast. I was still dragging from my 9 mile run on Saturday. The run was OK once I got warmed up. I looked at my log, and I ran 27.3 miles last week. I had to drive to work with the windows partially down to keep awake.

Yesterday's church service went great. I did the Lee Greenwood song God Bless the USA, and the people in the congregation actually sang the chorus with me - loudly and with passion. It's not often you get the pew sitters involved. LOL! The Pastor honored the veterans afterward, and as luck would have it, I was the only one there. All the other veterans were gone for some reason, and I know we have a few of them regularly attending. Maybe they were worried about being in the spotlight. I felt a little awkward being the only one standing up there. But, it wasn't too painful.

Went to lunch with the Pastor and his wife. I had a gyro sandwich, cream of chicken soup (a little cup) and fries (which I didn't eat). I did not neglect to eat the fries because I was such a good boy; I didn't eat them because apparently they don't know how to make french fries. This is about the 3rd time fries have come with a meal, and they were limp and greasy - like the oil wasn't hot enough when they put them in the pan. In any case, it was a blessing in disguise.

Afterwards, even though all I wanted to do was take a nap, I knew I needed to get a battery and install it in the little car. So, off to Walmart I went, and picked up another battery. And then I went over to the Pastor's house to help them move some rather large furniture. It was dark by the time I got home, so then I changed out the battery, which was an adventure in itself. I was almost finished with the chore, when I dropped the wrench! Nope, didn't go all the way to the ground. Bounced up and down on the little car, felt where I could feel, shined the light everywhere I could - no wrench. A few expletive deletives later, I take the battery back out, which of course had the most frustrating hold downs of any battery I have ever changed. Still couldn't find the wrench. Went and got a magnet on an extended wand and went fishing. Finally, retrieved the wrench. Took another half hour to finish installing the battery, and by then, I'm thinking I can still get to be an hour or so early. Nah, didn't happen. Dog needed walking. DW needed me to do a couple things. Got to bed about 9:50 PM. Oh well, maybe tonight.

Got on the scales this morning and I was 3 lbs. heavier. Now how the heck does that happen!? I burn 1200 to 1800 calories on a run and have a bagel for breakfast and gain 3 lbs! I know, I know. The scale is not your friend, and there are a lot of things going on in the body that don't respond like you would like them to, but it just seems like the scale knows when you've been having a bad day, and it just likes to see if it can take you over the edge. I know it's an inanimate object, but I still want to kill it!

So, with that said, I hope that all my buddies have a wonamous Monday! Is that possible? All things are possible with God. LOL! Could happen. Right? Toodles!

I feel your pain; I hate it when something like the 'wrench' elevates a simple task to a cussing contest. French fries - freaky - I have run into that a couple of times too - are they trying to use up the summer leftovers? I HATE it when it's that tiny little dried out burnt sliver of a potato. But then, like you, that's probably the healthy eating angel trying to stage an intervention.

Wow! You did have a busy day. That battery installation all by itself was enough of a thing for one day:) Nice run. I so understand about wanting to kill the scale. I put mine out of sight for awhile. It will be a motivation killer for sure right now. Whatever works! I am with you about the french fries. Some people actually like them limp. Thank goodness I am not even tempted by french fries now. Thank you for your service to our country! Happy Vet's Day!!

Laughing, for me little tasks often turn into hours. For me though it's mostly because I tackle things I have no clue what I'm doing so have to learn along the way. My son in law just laughs at me. We are good buddies.

I just love that song! I know you did us proud! You are doing great, put that scale away. It must be the muscle you have gained.

Saw Lee Greenwood in person about a year ago. The audience went crazy when he sang that song.

BTW he dedicated it to all the vets in the audience.

DK, I'm also fussy, if I'm going to eat off plan, what I eat had best be really good and worth it.

Thanks all! Was too beat to journal today. Did my 3 easy miles this morning. They honored all the vets at work today. Tomorrow is a rest day from running; I'm sleeping in until 4. They towed my truck to the garage today. Hopefully, I'll have it back in a few days. I'm lost without my pickup. The Toyota Echo runs good and gets 40 miles to the gallon, but I feel like I ought to be feeding it cheese instead of gas. Toodles!
