Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 14 July 2014

Poop! Today's eating is horrible. I planned it right. I packed my lunch, brought my healthy snacks, made sure my gym bag was in the car ready to go... then an hour long commute happened and co-workers happened and a biker rally!! First was the kitkat. Little man left it in my car friday night. Then it baked.. all weekend long. Luckily this morning it was nice and cool and solidish again. It no longer looked like a kitkat though.. still tasted like one :) Not my proudest moment. No breakfast plus a kitkat chanting EAT ME! from the cup holder = seriously?? you just put what in your mouth?! I only put half of it in my mouth then threw the rest away so I'm not completely gross...

Then I got to work and the co-workers struck. First we went to go get coffee and there were scones they looked like they were cranberry but they were lying. I LOVE cranberry scones. They were right there.. by the checkout.. the other writer at work got one.. she sniffed it with excitement and claimed they were still warm.. before I knew it I was sitting at my desk looking at the empty baggy that once held a blueberry scone that was placed in my hand by the cashier. So ok.. kitkat, scone... I'm ok. I can get it right for the rest of the day right? It's only 9am. I have the whole day to make good choices.. Except for the other co-workers. One was rude enough to have a birthday of all things! So another co-worker got her a cake. Can you believe the rudeness of these people?? All happy and celebrating and cake eating! Jeez! So I got cake.. they attempted to give me 1/4 of the cake because I'm eating for 2 but I convinced them the last thing my child needed was sugar in massive quantities to use as fuel to beat me up. Are they insane??? I still ate the piece they gave me though. They're now insisting we have afternoon snacktime.. with more cake.. I may hide in the bathroom. Food never sounds good when you're sitting in a public bathroom. Try it. Think Mmmm Cake.. then the person next to you flushes and MMmmm cake just doesn't sound as appealing.

Speaking of bathrooms.. I can still pull this day out of the crapper. I went to the gym. I ate a healthyish lunch. A fast, convenient lunch but it wasn't a big mac. I just hope I survive tonight.. attempting to plan a road trip to meet my mom a portion of the way so she can steal her granddaughter for a month. I just found out the PLAN.. may have a glitch. It's called a beach biker rally. All hotels are booked within a 3 hour stretch. So either I drive 6 hours both ways with a toddler and a bun in the oven or I play the pregnant card and drive 3 hours. Or.. I attempt to convince the grandma that Sunday looks better. It means a half day for me monday which doesn't sound all that bad either! Or.. we tell grandma to go get herself a motorcycle and blend in. Which really.. would be well worth the pictures and facebook posts.

I'm going to go hide in the bathroom now.

I was horrible last week. My food diary is ridiculous! LOL A kit kat and a scone as a fail? I wish! LOL I can picture the biker/grandma...love it! By the way, how is hubby and his diabetes going?

Hubby is slowly slipping into his old ways but he's doing alot better than he was. The only problem with the meds they have him on is he thinks he can have a soda a day.. or an oreo after dinner won't hurt him. I'd rather he just behave and stay off the drugs. At least he hasn't fallen completely off track and a treat here or there is 100% better than his 4-5 sodas a day.

Well, look at it this way. You did that slip one time. Behind you now. Don't dwell on that past future is bright and you have control. Hand in there, we all slip up and the secret is to remember you didn't gain weight from one day of eating poorly but weeks of over eating like me. We want instant results in this day and age. You will be just fine.

Love, love your journal...too funny! Plus all the evil that is going around. That was me on Saturday...my mom made a fresh cherry pie using sweet cherries. I managed to decline the cool whip and then that night I went to a birthday party and had some cake... the nerve of some people and having b-days!!

Ok.. use this to feel better about yourself because it's the truth. I could eat cake WHILE using the bathroom. I know because I've done it. I remember years ago doing a 'stress' test and it referred to 'do you thing about work while you're eating, using the bathroom or driving' but left the commas out and I didn't notice because I can eat and do all three. Well, I can't drive and use the bathroom. Well, I can. But I can't flush. You know.. there's an invention in the making... hmmm. Put down the cake and develop that for me, will ya?

Sounds like an excellent invention at this point. Ever tried to make an hour commute with a 10 lb bowling ball on your bladder? Not fun. Some days not possible :P

As they say pick your self up and start again!!! We all fall down now and then.I was overcome by French fries last night and a couple of peanut Butter cookies, so today I am cutting back a bit more.

Nope, never tried to commute w/a bowling ball. Seriously, if they can put window washer wipers into a car.. this is doable. And we'd just wear a wide skirt and no one would be the wiser. A nice little button to open and close the cover. A bidet. Even a little air spritzer.

Thanks for the smiles!

Have any of you tried a fish called Swain. In Fl. I know Winn Dixie carries it frozen, so I thought I would try it and it is delish.100 calories for 1 piece and very little carbs. I just seasoned it with pepper and sea salt sprayed a little Olive oil on it and patted just a few panko crumbs for crunch and pan seared it, boy was it good. I also tried smashed cauliflower from a recipe I found on here, and loved it, green beans as my green and I am so full.

Bella, you are so goofy, you make me laugh... Sandy, do you mean swai? If so it is really good, I love it on the grill. I have an herb garden. Soak a handful of lavender stems in water for at least 20min. Let a filet sit for a few while the grill heats in a bit of citrus (your choice I like fresh squeezed orange juice) a bit of olive oil, salt pepper a few tarragon leaves. Put the lavender stems on the hot grill pop the swai on top. Cook a couple minutes flip another 3-4 min on the other side. YUMMY!!

Isn't swai another name for catfish?
14 Jul 14 by member: Deb_N
It's a relative of the American catfish. It is a type of shark catfish, primarily tropical and from Asia.

LOL! I bought M&M's last week, and I haven't bought a candy bar for myself in probably a year or so. Maybe we have all been having sympathy cravings for you???? Sounds like quite a day, but at least you did some healthy things too. I hope the plan with your mom works in your favor. Good luck!!

I had the sweet tooth this week too and I had a neighbor with the gall to bring me a strawberry rhubarb pie. O it was delicious. It's a good thing he is one of the neighbors I like. Hang in there, you are doing great and 1/2 a kitkat won't kill you or your bun! Good luck with the drive. 1 1/2 hours yesterday felt long for me. My daughter is 4.
