FullaBella's Journal, 22 February 2013

Wow - have I ever been busy today! I have load of inventory to process but I'm whooped. (That's southern for tired.) Also, I think my contact lenses expired so I'm having trouble seeing. So I'm just checking in to say hello, all is well in Bellawood ((the sun is even shining!!)) and share a couple of things before I head out & get caught up on other's journals.

"Hungry for Change" - it's a movie on Netflix about food, sugar, traps we set for ourselves trying to be healthy and lose weight. I watched it last night and felt good that I'd finally learned a LOT of it this time around and learned a couple of more things. Pretty interesting if you have the time to give it a look.

So to celebrate my 6 month anniversary of Operation Oatmeal I ordered a juicer type machine - actually, Thynes, I ordered the one you recommended from a post. I'd been tossing the idea around for a few months now and finally the moment seemed right.

I'm not going to do a reboot right now - I'm going to save that for the future if I get stuck, bored, frustrated or my body starts to turn on me. (planning ahead for any thing that may get in my way!) I feel pretty confident I'm on the right path the way I'm eating and continue to add better foods as I eliminate those that aren't good for me.

But I was standing in the kitchen this morning taking my usual boatload of 'supplements' (biotin, calcium, VitD, VitC, etc) and thought 'hmmm.... what if I really COULD get the nutrients I need from the vegetable & fruit in a concentrated form rather than all these extra supplements?

So it just seemed a fitting gift of recognition to give myself something new to try.

Will it work? I have faith it will and faith goes a long way - I live on it. My scientific and logical minds agree as it does make sense the way it is described as 'an instant delivery of nutrients to the body' rather than trying to chew up a ton of vegetables, having my stomach feel too full, etc.

And heck, if it doesn't, what've I got to lose?? The supplements have a pretty long shelf life ((probably longer than I do, LOL ))

Soooo ... that's the plan.

Spectrum Ground Premium Flaxseed with Mixed Berries - got that in yesterday and love it soooo much more than just plain ground flaxseed. I can actually taste the berries. I just stirred some into my Nostimo greek yogurt and am really enjoying it. I know I read like a commercial. I promise, I receive no compensation for this endorsement.

Speaking of endorsements - I had a thought this morning as I watched a TV commercial. The actress was enjoying a single small Ghirardelli Chocolate Square.

You know, it's interesting of all the commercials that DO have fine print on them ~ wouldn't it be great if those type commercials did as well?

"Please note, the actress in this commercial removed ONE square of chocolate from her desk drawer and is taking the time to lean back and enjoy it slowly with intention and attention. Note she did not reach into the bag and grab a handful automatically without knowing if ONE would satisfy her desire for chocolate. Nor did she continue to reach into the desk drawer for another and another and another. Note her desk is not littered with empty wrappers. She is eating ONE. One is okay. One is enough.'

Just a thought.

I have to go to driving class all day tomorrow thanks to earning two speeding tickets in 90 days. Thankfully it's a 'comedy driving school' so maybe it won't be too tedious. It's being held at a steak house too so I'm sure I'll have something 'beef' to add to my food diary tomorrow.

That's all. Wish I had a joke or something.

Thanks for reading.
Bella

Hungry for Change is very good. A lot of us got involved in that earlier last year and I even bought my own copy at that time. It certainly makes one think about what goes in her mouth and the ramifications of so many chemicals, etc. Sounds like you have a plan up your sleeve and I am sure that you will share with us as it progresses. Loved your sense of humor about traffic school. Hope you have a great weekend. Smiles...

Just catching up on your wonderful journals! You are such an amazing inspiration to so many of us. And the progress you have made against such odds and while dealing with so much in your daily life... you are my idol & lucky for me, my Angel! xoxox

I like watching documentaries for their thought provoking capacities. All of them put forth valid arguments that are then left up to us to digest and decide on their validity. It seems to me that, as of late, there have been an overabundance of documentaries on all angles of our food consumption - from diet to weight loss to humanitarian issues to veganism to safety and on and on and on... My daughter's newly acquired vegan lifestyle has exposed me to a larger measure of these films than most would be privy to... although she has lessened her preachy nature, thank goodness, in an ever thankful measure since I informed her that she was getting on my nerves :) But, that being said, being an informed consumer takes on a whole new meaning when you realize just exactly what it entails. Asking questions, seeking answers - good for you! Keep up the quest. Knowledge is power!

I have always wanted to be the woman in the commercial who loving savors one square of chocolate. I m fairly certain she leaves food on her plate when she isn t hungry. She doesn't order fried chicken for lunch...or dinner. She wakes up and has a quiet time does her yoga Pilate's routine. She runs 2 miles on the beach and is showered dressed hair done and eating an eggwhite omlette no cheese by. 8 am. Well that s my fantasy anyway lol : )

I will have to check out the documentary. Not only am I tracking everything I eat, I also need to watch what my son is putting in his mouth (headache trigger foods). Right now, I eat nearly constantly - my salad takes nearly an hour to eat. Let me know how it goes with the juicer - I had never considered one thinking that I need to crunch through foods to feel satisfied.

Thanks everyone. Traffic school was okay - amazing how rarely I get to go six hours without taking care of MH or MDog or eating my whole lunch without interruption. I learned a lot (I confess with shame) or at the very least was reminded of just how dangerous all those other drivers out there can be (LOL). The beef was actually so tough I didn't enjoy it that much (thankfully - so NOT eating it all was actually do-Able) but the french onion soup & baked sweet potato were very good and yet, I managed to eat with intention and attention with those too EVEN though I was eating about 2 hours later than NORMAL so I was reaaaaallly hungry by the time food arrived. I stared down the 'bread' on the table with 'noooo, you don't want acne again, do you?' plus 'really, you want a sugar / carb rush when you're doing all you can to sit still & pay attention??' I ignored the desire to order a slice of cheesecake for the 'afternoon pick me up' but it sure did look good. On the other hand, I stupidly forgot to take an emergency backup in my bag (usually take a babybel cheese or some raisins or almonds) so I think my whole system was off for the day and went to bed feeling way overloaded on my food intake. Today I just took it slow and cut the intake - mindfully because I just wasn't hungry until about 11 and felt I could wait my body out without starving. Anyway ~~ thanks again for stopping by, reading, commenting, and your continued support and friendship. Bella
