Finally plowed & able to get out again! Plow came yesterday at 11... I was out the door to church at 11:40... so happy to be free again & how appropriate to end the sequestering in prayer which is what got me through it! But it was, in many ways, a fun winter weekend, got out x-country skiing yesterday which was wonderful & went out to dinner with DH last night to celebrate Valentines Day as I leave again Fri to go back "home" to see my Mom. As usual, even as empty nesters, it seems there's never a dull moment here.

Feeling good & will try barley soup for my 3rd & final day adding back wheat. Although, going against all proper research techniques, I've already basically concluded that wheat just isn't so good for this old gal. Next test will be to try lactose free dairy, so this lab rat isn't unemployed yet!

And for the finale, & biggest news of the day (at least in my always crazy & recovering stir crazed mind) -- today marks 5 weeks off sugar:)! Throughout the holidays (which spanned for me from Thanksgiving until my birthday on Jan 7 when I started a 5-day cleanse), as I overate, binged, craved & obsessed about eating/not eating/forms of sugar, I would not have imagined I could eat (or live!) for 5 weeks or 5 days or 5 minutes sometimes without sugar. But, here I am, & feeling better than ever! While speaking with my health coach on Fri, I/we certainly couldn't pinpoint what changed -- the cleanse, adding supplements thought to reduce cravings, praying again & re-connecting with my Catholic roots, listening daily to meditation/hypnosis tapes, working with a health coach. But what I know was most crucial -- all of you & the amazing, never-ending support you have all given me! Don't know what I'd do without you all & can't thank you enough!

So, of course, again today I'll start in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

And I'll pray, breathe, log, post & express for this one day, meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time as I rejoice in my sugar free life with my wonderful FS friends! xoxox

Good Morning Ruth, so glad you got plowed out, sounds like CT got hit hard with the storm. I am so happy and impressed how well you are doing with your experiments. Well done for staying off sugar, I need to do that with sugar and wheat too. Take care and keep up the great work.

Free at last - enjoy your mobility. Good luck with the barley. BTW - Don't do what I did. I made the most delicious barley, bean and cabbage soup once but it was DEADLY! LOL. Had to throw it out.

Happy to hear you made it out in time for church. I am ready for church next week. I haven't been in two weeks because of wrestling tournaments and we never miss church. I still can't figure out why they can't do more on Saturdays. But I always enjoy seeing my kids do something that makes them happy. But they were upset we were going to have to miss church again. Next week my hubby needs to pay better attention when deciding which tournaments to sign up for. But this is the first year they have had so many on a Sunday.

Ruth I am happy that you made it out to church! Glad that y'all are doing well from all of the snow too. Like you I know that sugars and wheats are not good for my body. I have been really successful this time around and I know that God has really helped me maintain that strength. I am looking forward to Lent and joined a Lent challenge :) I hope you have a great day.
