Thinking of moving on from fat secret. Now that I've lost 205 lbs I want to learn more about nutrition and fitness - and I feel really stifled on this app... #1 none of my fitness stats from my Garmin 735 will mesh with FS... and above all, You can't really have a discussion on this app or learn anything without having to hear a sermon about you know what current diet fad.
217.5 lb Lost so far: 244.5 lb.    Still to go: 27.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I agree. Keto and fasting are very popular on FS.

Your health is exactly that yours. Learn to eat well and take care of yourself. Take care of your investment; you've put a lot into it. My philosophy is eat well (no box, bag, or caned stuff), right portions and keep your body in motion. You;re a testimony to what it really takes, sheer determination. God bless moving forward.

you will find most diet support sites have a huge variety of diet plans like this one. and the support is intended to be positive and supportive no matter what kind of diet the person is on. Maybe a physical fitness site will have the info you need.

I say with a smile that "All good things must come to an end" - I think endings are new beginnings for what ever is the next good thing. May you find your next good thing in whatever direction you are looking! All the best and glad to have "met" you through reading your past posts when I joined FS. And a quote from Dori - "just keep swimming!"

Learning about nutrition is so important and fascinating. There are many crucial nutrients that the body has to have in order to function properly— way beyond the big 3 macros. I often wonder if the people who do exclusionary diets or long days of fasting ever consider where there body is getting these nutrients from. Spoiler alert— it’s not. Different degrees of malnutrition is rampant in the diet world. Good luck on your continued progress. Enjoy the journey. There are several functional medicine sites that are free and they are excellent. Unbeknownst to many, there is a huge push out there to provide real, reliable information for people to help them learn to make better food choices. Research, research. Google is your friend.

I have lost 'more' than the weight I want to lose. However, I do not plan to move on. I think it is important that I was not successful for 8 years on this site. When I finally got 'plugged in' I was able to lose the weight. I plan to stay and 'try' to help others.

I agree with @ramblemanje...A personal trainer will guide you thru the next step.

@adef +1 The beauty of FS for me is that daily I get to witness people like you succeed in in incredible journeys of heroism, the challenges of which dwarf mine. There is a genius in watching someone cure themselves of diabetes or high blood pressure and toss their meds in the trash that I have simply not found elsewhere. And btw, idealogues, blatherscythes, busybodies, dumbasses, and dipsh^ts are everywhere. Good luck.

@jimmiepop - Thanks man! And yeah, I have been part of spiritual online sites where they get into huge 'sermons' … well, perhaps it is ok there... :)

As they say, one door closes and another opens. You can always come back if you need to.

@kenna You hit it spot on. I really want to improve health and learn what nutrients I need... the exercise end I have covered... Google is ok, but listening to podcasts and reading books is better. I just purchased Mycellium Running by Paul Stamets and have been trying some mushroom suppliments, specifically lionsmane extract. Again .. these are the things I want to learn about... nutrition, suppliments, things that will heal the body and make it healthier... because I have a serious automimmune disease (I have Reactive Arthritus coupled with Rheumetoid, AKS and serious Asthma... I. so crippled that I've I can barely walk.. that's why I got so overweight to begin with, and why things like Keto, Atkins, fasting et. are not even on my radar... three days on a diet like that and going to be hospitalized for gout or worse... That's the thing here... Im trying to really seek out the way I should be eating, but the fad diets are so overwhelming on this app, you simply can't dismiss them out of hand and move on without offending one of the disciples and end up getting heaps of insults and abuse thrown your way. Quite frankly, I'm entitled to say that I don't like a thing, I don't want anything to do with it, and it seems unhealthy without making someone angry with me and going on a rampage about how ignorant I am... it's just a wierd thing to do to someone who has a perfectly good reason to dismiss or question current fad diets. I don't care what you say about nutrition on this site... I will never call a person stupid or ignorant or get angry at them and stir up other people against them for having a defined opinion. For example, if someone didn't think swimming was great exercise, I would think "huh?" but I, as a swimmer, would hardly get all pissed off at them over it, and I would in no way want to police this app and call out everyone who didn't like swimming... because that would be a monumental waste of my time and energy. when I could be learning something... and that is my ultimate goal ... REAL learning ... because I live in horrible horrible pain, yet I find the discipline to go out there and grind in the pool for 2 hours a day... there's no room in my life for wasting time on anything but finding the truth... and improving my overall health so I can live a little better, so if I feel stifled or blocked in any way, if there is no avenue to get good food feedback and open discussion, I will toss a thing aside and move on and find an avenue where I can truly learn and grow.

@ramblemanje I'm actually married to a personal trainer It's the only reason I'm not in a wheelchair at this point... but it's the deep nutrition knowledge I seek, as well as being able to marry my workout metrics to my calorie and nutrient intake in one app ... someone is telling me that Google fitness is a better route for that, so I'll give it a shot tomorrow. We'll see.

I hear what you are saying. Nutrition and weight loss is such a hot subject, almost as bad as the Dem/Repub. issues. I became interested in this subject a long time ago and try really hard to be informed. I am a nurse so research is my thing. I’m sorry about all of your medical issues. You might check to See if there is a Functional medicine doctor in your area— might be worth it. I’m not a dieter but I am a swimmer— so glad I’m not alone. That is my “magic bullet”. I admire your perseverance in trying to improve your situation.

good luck with your decision, either way. you're certainly one of the stars here and your results should be proof enough for any/everyone.
