I never thought I'd say this about a Monday, but yesterday was a great day! 2 great realizations that I'm truly losing and not still as big as I seem to think I am. Had a visitor from an out of state facility come to town to assist with an investigation. When she got to the plant yesterday she called from the lobby and I went down to escort her in. She hasn't seen me since probably Jan/Feb and the look on her face was terrific! She asked me where the rest of me had gone and then gave me a big hug! First real look of shock I've seen on someone's face after seeing my slow transformation. Then, I went home to make a brisket and a pork butt for this evening's National Night Out in our city. Got the brisket and butt all rubbed, placed them on pans, then went out to the smoker to put them in. Now, my smoker is a vertical unit that I built, and the top grate in it is about 5 feet off the ground, so as I reached up to place the brisket on that top grate, my shorts fell down around my ankles while I had both hands full! No, I still haven't made my new belt, I should probably get on that soon. Also, when dinner time came around last night, I wasn't hungry, so I decided that I'd wait until lunch today to eat. Yep, 24 hour fast is rocking baby! Now, do you REALLY want to test your resolve when fasting? Go out to the smoker at 0600 and pull the items below out of the pit, then when wrapping them up to save for later, DON'T sample any of the little pieces that are falling off due to being so tender! I REALLY wanted some, but I was strong!!! Hope everyone has a great day!

@dboza, get a smoker! They have small ones and when you add a vacuum sealer to your kitchen arsenal, the BBQ from the smoker and the vacuum packer make for EASY meals later in the week or month!

I do have a vacuum sealer.. That's a good idea. I usually buy multiple steaks, separate and seal them. Thanks CB..

I've had my pants fall off before too! Most hilarious way to gauge weight loss EVER!
Great job on your fast!

@dboza, after you vacuum pack your cooked brisket, pork butt, etc., and refrigerate it, there is a VERY simple way to reheat and it's almost like it came right from the pit. Take the defrosted bag of cooked meat, place the UNOPENED bag into an empty pot, fill the pot with cool tap water, place on the stove top, turn the burner to high, let it come to a boil, remove from heat, cover and allow to sit for 5-8 minutes. Open the bag and enjoy.

Crankybuzzard, I'm also on a 24 hour fast, my first time ever, willingly, had some tummy issues, so hoping it all goes away today. And hopefully I will not eat tonight before or after my racquetball club meet.

Ahhhh, the Ah-ha moment that happens to a lot of us, when your pants fall down/off! Mighty fine lookin' brisket! You are strong to resist those little pieces that are falling...oh, they are the best!

Today I measured and what used to be a 44" waist is now at 41".... All of my pants are still 44 or 46" waist, may have to shop soon. As for smoked goodness, that's one of the main reasons I'm going to be able to nail this weight loss and then maintain, I love to cook all things meat, and BBQ is my specialty. Since I don't cook with, or use, sauce, I'm in zero carb, high fat, good protein heaven! Jeni, I've been known to rub a butt or 2. LOL. My smoker will hold 16 of them!
