I am a twenty-something stay at home mom. I have been dealing with weight, body image, and healthy living since I was 12. A family member told me I was getting chunky because I was 106 lbs, but I hit puberty early and was already 5'5". So, that coupled with mean junior high students sent me on years and years of yo-yo dieting. I grew up in a house where a home-cooked meal meant freezer pizza, so I didn't really know anything about proper nutrition and cooking.

I hide my pretty well, so I was able to fool myself that "I'm not so big." I hit my highest weight, 230, when I was pregnant. I decided no more, so I have been working to try to get into better shape.

I want to watch my son grow up, and I want to be able to play at the park with him. I want to not pay the 2 dollar fat person tax they put on plus size clothing. I am also learning to separate self-worth and body image. I am much happier with myself than I have been in over a decade.

Before and After, anyone?

This is me at my starting weight on my wedding day. 205 lbs.

This was taken about a month ago. 185 lbs.

I still have a long ways to go, but it is pretty crazy to see the differences already. I didn't realize how much was different.

I hope these showed up...

Also, knowing that I was going to walk on breaks kept me from sitting around and eating more because I was bored.

I use to work 6-4:30 and come home and take of my newborn, so I completely understand you. I used to just walk on my breaks at work. I would spend a few minutes eating, then just walk the halls or outside in good weather. I knew I had limited time, so I just worked on my speed. How many laps can I do in 20 minutes?

When I got home, I would take my son out for a short walk in his stroller and wagon. Like, mdep said, going to the park would be a another great action.

Water Weight Epiphany
Wow, that is interesting. I figured it was something like that, but this makes the whole notion of "water weight" a lot more understandable.

Water causing acid reflux?
I have this problem sometimes, worse when I was pregnant. I read somewhere (honestly, I can't remember where, I did a lot of pregnancy research) that since water increases the volume of liquid in your stomach, if you are prone to having more acid than average anyway, you will have more acid reflux, heartburn etc, though it will be less painful (though not by much in my experience) than just a normal incident of reflux. Now, it's very possible this is bs, but I thought I share it.
