Well... now you're just showing off (LOL!) - but, seriously, great work (especially over the last six weeks). But... you ARE making it difficult for me to catch you - you realize this, right?

Some background on where I've been the last 4 days. I was at my mom's up in the NC mountains near Boone. I went up a steep bank and through briars down a deer path and found a 12+ foot tree and started cutting, fighting briars (like tentacles) the whole time. Used a limb saw and a hatchet (had to sharpen it myself with a rock, it was so dull and chipped. After I managed (finally) to cut it down, getting it OUT was a whole 'nother matter, yessiree. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez. I had to cut down a briar tree to get it through. Anyway, I'm cut, scratched, scraped, and punctured through 2 sets of clothes and a jacket. I had good leather gloves tho. And climbing up and down that brier laden steep bank was rough. Brutal stuff, that was. Back home and the tree is in the yard and it's going to be pretty. I have a very tall sloping ceiling in the center of the house where the living room is, so I can do any height tree I want. But. I'll never do that again - learned my lesson. There's a man near her house who sells big trees for 5/ft with the crown not counting, and next year I'm going to pick one and let HIM cut and load it in my big ole Ford F150 longbed!!! I'm not working that hard for a tree ever again. Nope. Never.

Boone! That's close to where I'm from... I'm from Erwin, tn 🙂 I love that area, it's so beautiful. Sounds like you had a good workout with that tree, lol!

I did. My sons couldn't come with me and mom is in her 80s so it was up to me. I don't recommend it.

Green is good (weightloss) - The tree usually wins this battle - I fought many.

Just saw your post... I’m originally from Ashe in the mountains. Love your story. When I was growing up there we use to always go in the woods and find our own Christmas tree. Great times!

It was hard, but I'm glad I was able to pull it off. Two months ago, no way did I have the stamina to do it. It's proof that hard work and (diet) discipline does pay off. Some days it's hard. I love sweets.
