tahoebrun's Journal, 11 March 2019

Happy Monday everyone. This is really a great day. Lots of things happened this weekend so I was trying to figure out what to say. To be relevant to the food thing...I was able to sty the course...the funny thing is that I went to this amazing Deli in the Atlantis Casino here...NY style...I ordered this corned beef and pastrami sandwich - I am like oh yeah I am eating this whole thing. I got half way through and was so stuffed I had to bring it home. I had a side salad and pulled half the bread off so - my BGL was on track. The real topic for my journal today which has nothing to do with food but does have to do with patience and faith. So run away now if that bothers you. I have a son that I haven't spoken to in 15 years - he was 11 when I last saw him. Super ugly Divorce - I am not going to talk about that. I have prayed for him and asked God to keep him safe and happy. I found him on FB a while back he would friend me but allowed messages to be sent. So for years I just sent Birthday and holiday wishes and if I was in his home town I would let him know. I never heard back. Well he reconnected with one of his brothers a month or so ago. that Son let me know that estranged brother was getting Married this past Sunday and forwarded me the invite. I sent a message to congratulate him. He actually answered...First communication in 15 years. Basically a miracle. The interesting piece is that his new bride has the same first name as my Mom (his Grandmother) - he thought that was cool. It was a very emotional weekend for me - I didn't need to celebrate or find solace in food...or anything else for that matter. Just another example of how truly blessed I am and that I am grateful that I get to be here today to have this experience. Thanks for the opportunity to share the "feels" with the group. I hope you are all patient with yourselves on this journey - you never know what is going to happen next.

Beautiful and touching story.❤ You did the very thing that your son needed, to know he was loved and time. And good going with the deli meal too. 😊

what a lovely touching story, a good Dad that stayed the course and didn't force something that needed time.

Can understand you needing a place to share your feelings. I too have shared so much on FS because I had no other place. You restrained yourself so much more than I did, to the point that I regret a little. You did a beautiful job of sharing your feelings. I glad you have the Lord in your life, that is the most important. Next important is that you can pray for your boys. It was great that you could stay the course. Keep doing the good things. Great job!
