42 hour Fast #2 completed.

Dr. Fung and Megan Ramos have worked with about 9000 patients now, with fasting, to reverse T2D (i do not have), and obesity (sigh, yes).

They have found the best way for women who have had off and on lifelong restricted diet attempts (ie low calories daily - most of us) resulting in a consistent low metabolic rate, to drop fat pounds Best, is to do alternate day 42 hour fasting. Last meal at 6pm, don't eat the next day, and break the fast at noon the following day. Then have 2 meals that day finishing again at 6pm and repeat. Essentially eat to satiety and certainly follow a low-carb, Keto diet on feasting days.

In 1989 I was 155lbs SKINNY at 5'10" with enormous bones. From there I have gone up to 272, and my lowest 170lbs (still slim). In 2018 I was able to go from 272 to 236 and now, having added the fasting component, plan on hitting the 170, maybe even 160, this year.

So far I feel great. Today, I made Keto Broccoli and Cheddar soup, I fed it to my staff, and we all LOVED it. Yum.

Great info on the fasting for women. I do not know if I want to go there. I do some 24 hour fast here and there. Lovely soup. I made one mushroom cauliflower and bonebroth yesterday. Just love it

Nice, and yup, the good DOC knows his stiff. I have a cousin who teaches college biology (anatomy physio) and am pulling my teeth trying to figure out how to open peoples minds. I guess they will eventually learn.

Oh wow I had forgotten about this soup, I made it last winter and loved it. Thanks for posting about it, I will definitely be having some this weekend as it’s fffffreezing here in the U.K. Good luck with your journey this year, I am back on keto as of today as I fell off the wagon over Christmas and I’ve gained 8lb! 😢 I had just reached 45lb the week before Christmas so I’m well disappointed in myself but I’m determined to get back on it. I can only do 21 hours of fasting as I’m diabetic T2 and then my bg drops way to low and I will get a hypo, I wish I could go longer but I know that I lose doing 21 hour fast so I’m really doing omad. Best of luck to everyone and happy new year to you all xx

Terrapin12 Keto means very low Net Carbs: so there is no sugar, flower, root veggies, etc. The cheese and some cream fat are welcomed, the chicken stock benign and the broccoli a carb, but a fibrous non-starchy carb. Very healthy and definitely keeping insulin at bay, which is the Keto goal.

Yoyonomore66 make sure you spend time researching everything Dr. Fung and Megan Ramos at IDM, they are reversing Type II D and helping people everywhere. Of course medical supervision and doing what is right for you is critical, but there is a light at the end of your tunnel. I too gained over the end of Nov into Dec, but did not post, however with the alternate day fasting last week, I not only lost the 9lbs but will post a new low in a couple minutes. All the best!!

Hi thanks for your reply, I have been really good for the past 2 days and I have lost 5lb already. Obviously that’s water but really just by dropping my carbs and I have managed to fast 18/6 both days, I have to take it slow with being diabetic. I’m really happy to just increase the time fasting at a slower pace for now then maybe next week I can get to 21/3 and it maybe will help to lose the last few lbs? Yes I’m following Dr Jason Fung and I’m reading his book atm. Well done with losing the 9lb, that’s a good loss in a week and gets you back to your pre Christmas weight. I made the soup with a bit of tweaking and both my husband and I really enjoyed it 😁 xx
