47 and time to get my life back. I grew up in a house with home cooked meals - excellent nutrition for 18 years, I did however ALWAYS want sugar. It was the driving force of my childhood. I got third degree burns putting my hand onto an oven burner that had just gone black from red, trying to hoist myself up on the counter to get the cookies... I distinctly remember at the fair, not wanting the Candy Apple, JUST the Candy spiral. That sort of sums me up - a lifelong sugar/fat/salt/junk food tragedy. When I moved off to University, there was a Wendy's less than a block away. I don't think I could count how many hamburgers and fries i ate after class. I am 5'10" and able to easily hide a good 50lb completely. When I get back down to 200lb people will start to say, OMG you look so good (they think I'm 150). The scale continued to climb, so that when I was 30, I settled in at 215lb. There was a time I went down to 170, my ideal weight, and it was a happy time, but work and my approach to happiness (stress management), has always been a steady dose of carbs to bring on the numbness. I've let the scale creep up to 275 the last few years and it has only caused me to be a more reclusive, sedentary workaholic. At 47 the health issues are considerably more attention grabbing, than looking good in a sharp pair of pants. It is time to listen and pay attention and enjoy the next 50 years!! I watch Dr. Eric Berg Videos on YouTube (game changer for me) and I am taking one day at a time with Keto LCHF, easier and more practical than I ever thought possible. I bought the dress you see in my Avatar --- 2 years ago --- it is in a bag in my closet and I will wear it one day and it will be my after picture, and the picture that defines the rest of my life. I wish every person on this platform have the courage and determination to find their way, and to never give up. We are Worth it! We only have 1 chance to do it right so why wait??
