Unfortunately I am posting a gain this morning. I would have liked it to be a loss as this is my one year anniversary of charting my weight. My Fat Secret one year anniversary is in three weeks. However, it is essential to remind myself that in all the years that I have made a concentrated effort to lose weight my very best was 51 pounds in one year. This time it is 60.5 pounds in one year and that is pretty darn good! I have another 40.5 pounds to goal and I am confident that this time next year I will be at goal. Another celebration for me regarding this go round- I have finally internalized what and how to approach my eating. I am now certain of my success without having food rule my world. I often felt like I was white knuckling weight loss in the past that if I 'slipped' in any way I would wipe out all my progress. Now I know what portions to eat, how to prepare my food to support my goals and that small deviations are not the end of the world. I spent this last week travelling with my grandkids to visit my son and his wife. Eating was certainly a challenge - mostly around lack of routine and sometimes lack of being able to make the good choice from a given menu. I did find that I was physically uncomfortable when I was not eating as well as I am used to. I really was thrilled to embrace my regular eating habits when I returned however there hasn't been enough time to totally drop what was gained (I did drop 2.5 pounds in the last two days...). Also putting this in context- the time I spent with the grandkids and my son and his wife was truly special. We made so many memories and had such a pleasant time. The kids were eager and willing to try anything offered and my son was so proud to 'show off' his corner of the world. The trip was not marred in any way by me obsessing about what I was eating either out loud or internally. Once again I knew it was one week and that was it. I would return to my routine and the weight would be attended to in good time. I could just relax and enjoy my time without binging or guilt or rigidly holding the line. This is a picture of us having High Tea at the Empress Hotel!

Oh, my! Just watched a video on high tea. The pinky is tucked in, never out. Guess I have been breaking with Royal etiquette for a long time. Carol, fantastic success on your weight loss journey. Congratulations!

That is so funny about the pinky finger! The waitress took the picture and had us do one without the pinky and one with. It was totally fun and the food was amazing! They adjusted to my vegetarian granddaughter, my son who has a sensitivity to salmon and my daughter in law who doesn't eat pork. We made it into a two hour experience. The tea was really delicious.

Actually, that's a low tea. High tea is seated at a table - like a meal, low tea is seated on couches - with like cake and stuff. But it's still awesome, no matter what you call it. :)

How fun!! That is quite an array of pastries and a good lookin family. Congrats on the loss over the year!! That is huge. Isn't is great when your WOE is part of you!! I understand that not feeling very well if you go very far off plan. I get what I call a "little kid's stomach ache."

That's right, Fulla. The upper crust had low tea. The working class had high tea. :)

Well, according to LZenn, I had high tea at the Empress years ago with my older son and my only granddaughter, who was five at the time. She was very concerned, as she did not care for tea, but her fears were alleviated when they served her a dish of fresh blueberries with cream. A happy time was had by all.

Funny about the High and Low tea. Everyone there was having high tea and we were the only ones having Low tea!! And I thought it was because they didn't have a table for 5. I expected that it was going to be awkward sitting low like that but fortunately it wasn't!

Bluegreg - I drink a lot of water in my regular routine. I have at least 14 cups of water and 3 cups of tea and 2-4 cups of kombucha. However, when I was travelling I found it hard to get enough fluid. I was had closer to half my usual intake while on vacation. After having my usual amount of liquid when I got home, I felt much better.
