I am a 36 year old female with two little ones. My husband and I went on the fat flush diet after birth of our first child. It really worked...but was alot of hard work, too. Don't seem to have the time and effort to do Fat Flush again, so we are trying to lose the weight our own way....burning more calories than we consume. Its not rocket science but it some of the hardest things we will do for ourselves.

We love food. But so do alot of people and in that we are no different. I'm very lucky to have the support of such a wonderful husband. We compete with each other, we tease each other, but most importantly we support each other.

Here's to a healthy life and swimsuit bodies!

STARTING TODAY
My husband and I are just about following the diet layed out in Ms. Gittleman's book to a T. Except, I am more consistent about the lemon water in am and pm as well as the 8 cups of cran-water than my hubby. He, however, has not cheated at all, whereas I've had many chocolate covered altoids, luncheon meat (no other choice), several pieces of chocolate candies at work, and a few salted almonds yesterday. Other than that, I've stuck to the diet, fixing the recipes in the back of the book, eating lots of leafy greans and colorful veggies with the flaxoil/apple cider vinegar/lemon dressing as well as fixing eggs every morning. We cook everything in low-sodium broth and only buy stuff with no-salt added and no-sugar added. It's been 10 days and I've lost 8 pounds and can fit more of my clothes than I did before. My hubby has lost over 10 pounds and has noticed his pants aren't so tight. I feel like I'm getting my body shape back. However, we both feel hungry all the time! We miss our carbs and are not used to portioning ourselves. Its been real hard, I have to admit. I've never spent so much time cooking and preparing in my life! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks for two people every day! My husband is the one who usually does most of the cooking in our house, but since on this diet, I've taken over. He did thank me the other day for all my hard work, but I don't think he will move to Phase II after this two weeks is over. He will probably modify the Fat Flush diet to suit his needs. When he diets he preffers to eat healthy microwave meals for lunch and canned soups for dinner with protein shakes while going to the gym and working out hard. Don't know how next week will go, but I like the results so far!

I love the Fat Flush Plan ...
Its all about detoxing your liver and lymphatic system so that they can do their job of breaking down fat. So you stay away from whites.....sugar, flour, also processed foods, and other substances like salt, caffein, aspertame. Then you feed your body stuff that helps with the detoxing...lemon, unsweetened cranberry juice, flax oil, colon cleansing herbs, etc. Drink lots of fluids and eat a limited amount of lean proteins and fruits and lots of colorful veggies, especially the leafy green varieties. At some point you add freindly carbs to your diet, but I haven't gotten there yet (just started). That about sums it up! I'm all about the detox. I was to help my body do its job. Then I can start to eat more, keeping it healthy, and work out more so that I can increase my metabolism.

Eating Out
Eating out is so hard to do on a diet. One of the things that my husband and I have done (well, mostly me) is I make the fat flush dressing (flax oil, lemon and apple cider vinegar with some parsley flakes) and put it in a small baby food container. Then I put the cranberry juice in a 4 oz baby bottle and cap it tight. I carry these things with me when I have to go out to eat. I have ordered the smoked salmon ceasar without dressing or croutons (the darn thing came out with a really delicious looking corn bread muffin that I had to promptly put out of my reach!). The salad had so much yummy romain lettuce that I had some to take home for a salad the next day. Today, my hubby and I ate at Ruby Tuesdays and the obvious choice was their very delicious salad bar. However, he also ordered the baked talapia with broccoli and green beans. The green beans were soaked in butter, of course, so we couldn't eat them (forgot to ask the waiter). Again, we had our own dressings and put the cranberry juice in our waters. Hope this helps.
