Hi all,

I am a retired 63 year old woman, who still hasn't grown up. I love to have fun, and my weight hinders that at times. I have lost hundreds of pounds in my life and have done just about every diet imaginable from WW (atleast 6 times), to Quick Weight Loss, to Adkins, to the 6 Week body sculpting makeover, to Jenny Craig, to calorie counting, to Tops, etc., etc., and here I am with High Blood Pressure, Diabetes II, High Cholesterol, and a candidate for two knee replacements.

So, now I've decided to go to my 45th HS reunion, and of course I need to get in shape. I'm looking at September so I have a few months to get several pounds off. It's not all doom and gloom for me, though, I have recently lost 36 lbs. 27 with Jenny Craig, and 9 counting calories, but I find I need some moral support, and I found this website and am going to give it a try.

I am not quite sure how to manuever around, but I hope some of you will be willing to help me. I'm not great on the computer, but I do pretty well. Any help anyone can give me will be appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from some of you who have found this website helpful.

Later gator,
Lynncw

Why am I not losing?
mtfoster gave you some great information and tips. I am pretty close to the same weight you are. My doctor upped my water intake to atleast 96 ounces of water a day and believe it or not, drinking water helps a lot. I hate water, but force myself do drink it. Usually I drink it straight, but I have bought the MIO flavoring for my water, and I usually add it to my water for 1 meal. I have found it at Kroger and it comes in several flavors. I love the Mango Peach and the fruit punch.

I also noticed your calorie counts are all over the place. Try to stay closer to your 1300 calories as possible. But, I really think you need to lower your calorie to at least 1200.

Sodium - I try to keep it under 2000g a day, but that can just be a target amount you can try and attempt. If you go over, you go over, but the less sodium you intake the less you will swell, and believe me I have a problem with that, too.

Restaurant eating is a bear. You can be pretty assured if you eat out you will surpass the sodium level for that day. But my main thing is counting calories, and if you eat right, you can keep your sodium pretty much in check. Another thing I do is find the nutritional info for the restaurant BEFORE I go and decide what I am going to eat BEFORE I go. That way, I can plan the rest of the day, and not run out of my calories for the day. I have not gone to a restaurant that I can't find nutritional info on either.
My calorie count is 1000 calories a day, which I know is very low, but I find I am doing it. I set my calories at 1025 so I have a little breathing room, but if you go and look at my food diary you will see that I have done well so far!!! I don't want to go below a 1000 a day.

Also I count everything I put in my mouth. We went to Sonny's bbq last night, and I ate 4 pieces of my husbands appetizer. There were a total of 15 pieces, so I divided the calories by 15 and came up with the exact calories. This program will do the work for you. You can find the listing for Sonny's and get all the information you need to do this. You can find how I did this on my July 4th food menu/diary.

I know I have rambled, but I don't want you to get so discouraged that you quit again. I've been there and understand. If I can help you any other way, please let me know. Good Luck and Hang in There!!! Lynn

What to snack on when reading a book or watching a movie?
Have you tried the new snack Stix by Pringles. They come in 3 flavors. I have only tried one, the Honey Butter, and they are great. Only 90 calories, and there are 14 stix to a pkg.
