I am a 30 year old married mother of two. My daughter is 2.5 and my son is 1.5 (only 11 months apart). I have a fantastic and supportive husband. He is not on the Atkins diet, but he supports me and will not sabotage me. We've been together for 11 years and married for 4.5 years (took long enough!).

I've struggled with my weight my entire life as far as I can tell. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth and that has been my downfall. About a year ago I weighed 218 lbs and started working out with a trainer and eating low calorie and low fat food. I got used to working out, but was always hungry. My weight was down to 198 - the first time in YEARS that I had been under 200 lbs. My trainer moved and I flaked out and quit working out. I gained all but 6 lbs back!

My sister has been on the Atkins diet twice (she's with me in my photo!). The first time she went from a size 18 to a 4 and maintained her weight for years. She then got pregnant. After her pregnancy she did it again and went from 195 lbs to 130 lbs in just 7 months. What a rock star! She is my motivation. We've been talking about the diet, so I decided to get the book and give it a try. She is super supportive asking me to message her with my weight loss, food I've eaten and gives me recommendations on what to eat. What a great resource!

I'm very excited to lose this weight once and for all. I am terrified that I will be like this for the rest of my life. I want to feel good about myself, look good in a pair of shorts, be able to play with my kids how I want to, and look good for my husband.

Do calories and fat matter
Thanks for that! It helps. I will work to keep the fat AND calories down, then. We are a perfect match. Similar starting weights....can't wait to be down to where you are! Good work.

Do calories and fat matter
Do the number of calories and fat matter on Atkins? OR is the goal to just stay under 20 carbs during induction? Obviously following the list of approved foods, but is there a limit that you should not go over calorie or fat wise?
