A comfort-loving book nerd wanting to get out of her comfort zone, I want to lose weight so I feel more confident in my skin. I have committed to succeed in this goal only through developing a healthier relationship with food and by incorporating exercise into my routine. I've been overweight since I was about 14 so I understand that my current habits aren't going to change overnight.

My Ravenous Teens Are Eating All My Food!
My mom has that trouble with my youngest siblings, both 16. My brother has a super metabolism and will snack on everything he can readily grab. We joke that he would starve before he would make a sandwich! My sister has recently turned vegetarian and is very health conscious now. Between them they devour all of mom's healthy snacks and produce as well as their own stuff. Mom's solution is to buy them whatever they need and buy twice as much as she needs. She'll put one bag of rice cakes at eye level in the pantry and put the other one out of the way for her own use! (She's still working to tweak this system. Ha!)

Dropping Sugar - Need Guidance Please
I went cold turkey. I decided to give up desserts for a year. The first couple of days were awful. I kept thinking of all the "dessert-eating opportunities" I was missing out on. But it made me realize how often I indulge my sweet tooth! Afterwards I craved sugar less but switched to craving carbs. I got past that stage too. The longer I stayed off desserts the less control my sugar cravings had over me. I saw the cookies and pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas but by then I had been off desserts for several months and the idea of giving up on months of work for one store bought pie simply was not worth it. Even my birthday which was a 11 months into my dessertless year was not an exception. I substituted cake with a yummy and sweet fruit salad and champagne. No regrets there. July 4th ended my challenge and I brought desserts back in, but my relationship with food is much healthier now than it was a year ago. I still have a sweet tooth but I'm working hard to make sure that I don't let my cravings take over me like I did before. In general, it's best to avoid any store bought sweets. They're not as good and not good for you either. Plus, it's not like they're going anywhere!

To sweeten my coffee I use stevia or splenda, but I'm trying to reduce how much I put in by adding another low calorie flavor like vanilla extract.

night time eating..
They call it BREAK FAST for a reason. During the day your body learns to pace itself. It thinks I need this much energy to go through this much of your daily routine. By 8, your body wants to play catch up. Your body is lazy. It prefers to get its energy from quick sources like sugars and refined carbs. At night, you want to force your body to get its energy from fat stores, so try avoid eating before bed. This is hard, because you're not as likely to be doing anything that distracts you from your cravings. Try doing something every night that tells your body you are done eating until breakfast. Brush your teeth, have a hot beverage, turn out the lights in the kitchen, get into your pjs... Whatever works for you. If you're out with friends then make sure to eat a small dinner and stay away from the fried appetizer! Make the focus your friends and not the food and drinks.

GYM QUESTION!! help

hi i weigh 95kg i need to loose weight fast cz im 18 and like the fatest amongst my siblings

Darlin, my first bit of advice is to stop comparing yourself to other people, especially family members. I've been in that boat. I'm bigger than my siblings too. It's only going to make you jealous and self-conscious and your siblings feel guilty for being their sizes.

Weight loss you plan to keep off will take time, so be patient. I would recommend checking out Rabbit food for my bunny teeth. It's a health blog that I love a lot. The girl who writes it dealt with the same stuff. Issues with being bigger than her sis and issues with food too.

Exercise too. Strength training and/or short high intensity workouts will help jumpstart your weight loss. Good luck!
