I started lifting weights at the age of 17 at the local ymca with my older brother. This was during the time of Charles Atlas, Reg Park, Larry Scott,Harold Poole, Steve Reeves, Dave Draper and the king himself Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first magazine I ever bought was S&H (strenghth and health) which I still have. In the 70's I joined a health club called Guy Bello's. I was fourtinate to get in on the ground floor and spot for a Young man named Casey Viator whom later became Mr. Universe. I learned a lot about nutrition and bodybuilding for strength from Casey and Guy. At the age of 28 I decided to pack on some extra muscle and try my hand at bodybuilding. I learned it is hard work most of my fellow employees called me the hulk. At 5'6" I weighed 198 and 5% body fat. I had applied every effort into building a great body. I did so with no drugs only watching protein, carbohydrate and fat intake. It was not uncommon to grab a glass of O.J. and break 8 to 10 whole eggs in it, mix it up and drink as a post workout drink. I would load up on slow digestive carbs an hour before workout. At that time It was not uncommon to stay in the gym for 2 or 3 hours. Training was 5 days a week, sometimes 2 times a day. I always kept a log of all my workouts and still have them. I remember my insperation was my dad, he had the biggest biceps, they looked like to big cannon balls a good 20" or more. I know what it takes to lose weight and stay fit. Sometimes a person has medical problems which turns his whole life around but it does'nt have to end. This happened to me and at the age of 62 I am back on the mend and back to weightlifting and eating right. I will be the best I can be again and have the body I want. I have felt that weightlifting and aerobics are the answer to those that want to be all they can be. No I will never be 28 again but I can lose the weight and gain muscle no matter how old I get. Supplements
In these day's of economic troubles and the lack of money to spend on supplements.

The most essential supplement is a "one-a-day" multiple vitamin-meneral tablet.

You can use dry powdered nonfat milk for your protein, simply add one to two teaspoons of the powder to a glass of milk for consumption between meals. Mix with a blender for best results with a banana, pear or strawberry. You can also mix with water but triple the amount of powder. The best budget foods for bodybuilding are chicken and eggs for protein, and potatoes, rice, salad greens, vegetables and whatever fruit is in season for carbs. Remember steak may be tasty to some bodybuilders but it is expensive and is actually an inefficient source of protein. The hulkster

The way I look at it!
The old saying you are what you eat, hits the nail on he head. I'm glad to be here and this is the way I look at it! I've been following the bfl program for about 9 years now. I have won and lost at the diet game and know what it takes to lose weight. The problem is like so many other people who are employee's we don't always get to eat like we should. I've come up with a sure fire way to make it work it's called getting everyone involved. The more people you get involved the better chances you have of getting your meals in every day. I let everyone know what my goal where and what I had to do to achieve them. Guess what I put them in charge f helping me succeed and guess who reaps all the rewards. EVERYONE!!
