Ready to loose the weight for good. Was up and down on the scale all my life. Had a few great years of being a size 6-9 and weighing no more than 145 (2003-2007) That was after my divorce (was married 20 yrs). I began a new relationship in 2007 and withing no time we both had quit exercising and gained 40+ lbs. I am unhappy with the way I look and feel. I used to work at an office and would wear skirts with high heals and I felt great and sexy...I miss feeling sexy!!! I don't get much exercise anymore since I now work from home and live wayyyyy out in the country. My work attire now is sweat pants and t-shirt. I only put on my tennis shoes to go and get the mail. I mostly sit on my butt all day. I have begun walking around the land 10 min at a time and working out with a weight machine (that only takes like 5 min to do the exercises right now but I will start adding more rep soon) I am on Atkins and the first 2 weeks I have lost 10 pounds. I have never been on a low carb diet and I hope this will be my ticket to stop the up and down.
My son is getting married in June and I refuse to look this way in his pictures! I want to look and feel wonderful for the wedding and beyond!

Strange phenomenon...
I counted her net carbs from vegies today and they are only about half of what they should be. Jadea, you need to get 12-15 grams of carbs from the foundation vegies a day and then keep the total grams for the day of all your food under 20. I just bought a food scale at walmart this week for $7.00 and I have gotten used to keeping a one cup measure in my lettuce bowl. start measuring and also start putting your own food as a "new food" and you take the nutritional info off of exactly what your eatting so you know that the counts are right. I also use the Atkins site and look up the values of vegies if I can't find info on the packaging.

What do you eat for breakfast?
I have never been a breakfast person other than my coffee. I don't even get hungry (diet/lifestyle change or not) till I have been up for at least 2 hours. I know its the caffine but I tried to give it up and I really need my caffine and my hubby likes me better on caffine <smile> So my breakfast today was a cup of coffee (1tsp splenda & my other indulge..coffemate) after my walk I drank 1/2 of an Atkins shake and forced myself to eat 10 cherry tomatoes cuz I need to up my carbs from vegies a bit.

why is avocadoe not in the data base
try spelling it avacado, or avocado, or add Hass to it (that is like a brand of avocado) I eat one everyday just about so I know it is in the data base!

So this is why?? Just for fun post
Got this in an email today and thought all of you would enjoy this!

At last I know why I have fat hips! When taking a shower I often use the rest of my shampoo to lather myself…then I read the bottle and it said “use for extra volume and body!” What a shock! No wonder it is so difficult to keep my weight under control. From now on I will use dish-washing liquid because it claims “dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove” !!

New Vegetable to Try
Im with k8yk, roasted butternut squash is wonderful! If you have never tried it, it is kinda like a sweet potato...very sweet and soft when roasted. I add a little butter and dig in. I have also heard of people who cut the squash into "fries" and then roast them until they are "al dente" as a substitute to sweet potato fries.
Eggplant, zucchini and yellow squash are great sliced (long way) tossed in a bit of olive oil/salt/peper and then grilled yummmmm! Or throw them in the oven and roast them!

Never met a vegie I didn't like but beets..just can't get past the smell.
