I am a 35 year old mother of 3 beautiful children. I also run my own business, love to garden, enjoy reading, swimming, walking, bodyboarding and listening to music.

My main incentive for changing my lifestyle was the birth of my 3rd and last child. I love my babies but for the 1st time in 10 years I feel like my body is my own again! So now it's time for me to reshape it and get healthy.

SICK!
I'm a sookie la la when it comes to being sick. I HATE it. I have two babies at home sick with me and as such am finding it extremely difficult to get motivated enough to get to the gym, even just to get out and walk during the day as we are all flaking out on the couch watching movies in our pyjamas, coughing up our lungs, going through boxes of tissues and eating soup.

What do you do exercise-wise when you are sick? Do you give up on it completely until you feel well again, or do you just tough it out and grind through the exercise anyway?

Obsession with weight and weighing
*gives the mean scales a kick*
I am one of those terrible people who are trying to kick the scale obsession. It's so much harder than I thought it would be! That being said, I DO weigh myself less now than I did in the beginning, but I feel more confident now in what I am doing. It gives me a bit of a "high" to see that I am losing, even if it is only 1/2 a pound, and reassures me that what I am doing is "right".

I am starting to learn to listen to other signs though. The way my clothes fit better, or in some cases now don't fit at all (my fat pants almost fell off as I was hanging out the washnig the other day!), the way that I can now sprint up the stairs at home without getting out of breath, knowing that I can now jog 2.5K without giving up and that I can complete an 8K fun walk and the enjoyment I take out of that.

I love k8yk's advice about, "My mini goal is ALWAYS to lose ONE pound, and every time I do, I celebrate it " I had never thought about it that way before, but it brings me one step closer to kicking my constant scale habit!

Thanks for bringing it up Rj and thanks for the great advice k8yk! Very Happy
