I want to try something different than the fat smash diet... I haven't had too much luck with it... I was considering Weight Watchers but not certain I wanna pay the money yet. I do know that I need to do something. I workout of roughly 50 mins a day and I need my eating habits to compliment my hard work during my exercises so i can start shedding the pounds faster. Please give me any suggestions u can offer!

Thanks,
K

i LOVE the Simeon's protocol (hcg). i'm using injections and have lost 20 lbs and over 20 inches in 30 days. But people on sublingual report same or better results.

if u want more info send me a private message and i can tell u more about it. Smile

I like the idea of the No S diet (No sweets, no snacks, no seconds except for days that start with S.)

I like the idea of it, but it didn't really work all that well for me. So, I'm just watching my calories and trying to keep it around 1700 calories a day. I also try to limit sweets, snacks and seconds most days. And, since I know that I will soon get tired of journaling my food, I generally don't journal on the weekends.

Don't be discouraged if you're only losing 1 or 2 pounds a week.

How about the no-diet diet? Just eat smart and move more; it works.

I'm a big supporter of calories in vs. out. It does work. More importantly, it is something that retrains you to counter the lies we've been told our whole lives concerning portion sizes and what food is appropriate.

I eat whatever I want (had cheesecake the other night), but I've learned that some things are just not worth it. To have the cheesecake, I had to give up my nightly snack which I really look forward to. I don't really get hungry at night like I used to, so it wasn't a big deal, but instead of the small piece of cheesecake, I could have had so much more healthier stuff. This is part of the learning process for me.

When I hit my goal by the end of June, with a 5 pound buffer, I'm going to stop counting calories and just eat based on what I've learned. If I go over my goal weight, it's back to counting until I go 5 under goal. I see it as a penalty for slacking off on eating right. I actually hate counting calories, but I cannot argue with the results.

I completely agree with Mimi, Matt, and rjenkins. No diet necessary. In fact, diets just don't work because they are temporary. Yes you can lose weight on the "Miracle Slimming Diet" but what will you do to keep it off? The best way to lose weight permanently is a real lifestyle change.

The reason I linked you to the sparkpeople site is that I know a lot of people need a more detailed plan, because it is difficult to get out of the diet mindset. Sparkpeople is the closest thing I've seen to what I did myself- but it has detailed steps you can follow to make the lifestyle change. I definitely don't think you need to pay for anything to lose weight. Diets are scams, for the most part. WW works for some people, but you can do the same thing on your own for free.

Injecting yourself with black market drugs is probably NOT the best way to lose weight. Not to mention, scary.

I firmly believe changing your lifestyle by calorie counting and exercise is the only way to lose weight and keep it off for good. Three months and 47 lbs works for me!!!

As a 2 time WW, I wanted to add that it really does work and it's not that different than just calories in, calories out.

But, the reason I know it worked is that it worked for me TWICE! And, still here I am north of 200, again.

So, what K8 is right. You really just have to change your mindset about food.

I think a diet doesn't work unless you keep the weight off. If you gain it back, the diet didn't work. So when people say "It worked for me twice!" I take that as, it didn't work. The best "diet" will also teach you how to maintain your weight loss.

I find a lot of people lose weight doing different diets, then gain it back and blame themselves for failing. In actuality, the DIET failed, not you Smile

For the record, I agree. I recognize that having it work for me twice is not really working at all.

The first time, I did it at work and the second time just online. The leader even mentioned how great it worked for her 5 times. (She had five kids.) It never occurred to me that wasn't really a glowing endorsement. I get it now.

I don't think WW is bad. I do think you can do the same thing without WW.

Well sometimes the diet isn't the problem...WE are the problem. Last year I lost 30 pounds in about 2-3 months. The diet worked!! What happend was I wasn't ready to make it a lifestyle change and I went back to eating like I was before then I gained 13 pounds of it back. Eating less, eating healthy and working out does work but WE have to maintain it. That means forever in life watching your calorie intake. So many times when we lose the weight we get happy and proud and forgot what it took to lose the weight. So when you eat less, eat healthy and workout YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT!! I lost 5 pounds from Sunday-Saturday..the system works!! I will post my weight on Thursday in order to be inline with my challenge. Keep your head up, dont lose focus because you can and will lose it if you put your whole heart and mind to it.
On my way to success

The best advice yet. Cool

People would be more successful if they used the word "diet" as a noun instead of a verb. Substitute "diet" for "lifestyle".

This isn't a temporary thing.

I totally agree you have to change your life and commit. Have you thought about getting a trainer? A trainer would be able to let you know the right exercise to do for yor body type and help you to reach your goal. You have already changed your lifestyle to fit one diet, why do that again when it could be that you are just not doing the correct exercise for your body type.

People said it already, but the only thing I've found that's ever worked is calories in, calories out. Water. Eating small meals a lot. Staying in a routine. Working out. Tossing it all up in the air and living a little sometimes.

Regardless of if I ever lose another pound, I've found that I really LOVE 'real' food - you know, that stuff that grows the way it is - and that I am about a billion times more energetic (uhh... 80 minutes of physical activity in one day? Well... I used to walk from the computer to the bathroom a lot... that counted! =).)

And going slowly. I've changed just about everything now, but I changed it very slowly. Its been 4 months (well, in 2 days), and I've lost a little less than 45 pounds, and all it's been is calories in, calories out.

Note - less calories in, more calories out, only works to a point! One of the biggest things I had to learn was I HAD TO eat. And frequently. Almost constantly. Eating is good, apparently. Huh, who woulda thought it!

It is completely a way of life...the best thing that I have found is the Bill Phillips Body for Life for eating...it is a well balanced eating life style...There are lots of things you can do to "kick start" it, but all the comments about more calories burned the more weight lost is correct, however, you do need the right calories...garbage in...garbage out!!!

Check out Body for life.com they have a fitness program as well...but you dont have to do it...great ideas on eating right!

Your response makes alot of FALSE ASSUMPTIONS. Actually I am usng a physician prescribed USA made source for my medication (NOT A DRUG, NOT BLACK MARKET, NOT SCARY)

If u have ever read the original protocol by DR SIMEON u would realize that he was way ahead of his time (1950's).
--all the allowed foods are very LOW GLYCEMIC and HIGH ORAC
--most are HIGH FIBER and fall into what some dieticians call FREE FOODS because it takes as much or more energy to digest as they contain in calories
--He discusses in detail the psychological aspects of obesity and the frustration resulting from failing again and again with conventional dieting to win the battle over chronic obesity
--He recognized the role of setpoints in setting people up for failure with conventional dieting
--and he proposed an effective solution that not only works but that retrains resets your glandular system so that the person CAN KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF AND ADOPT THAT NEW LIFESTYLE that we ALL AGREE is the KEY TO LONG TERM SUCCESS!!!!

In my own personal research and experience, I have found that the only people that criticize the protocol are those that have not read or tried it (or who tried it their way and didn't follow the protocol exactly).

SO BEFORE YOU DISCARD HCG AS DANGEROUS AND ILLEGAL -- DO YOUR HOMEWORK. FS is supposed to be a place where we HELP EACH OTHER. Don't knock what's working for other people. You have done well your way and i salute you. Keep it up and keep it off!

Thanks for listening!!

Drink lots of water. If you can, try drinking the Benefiber packets in your bottled water. It keeps you feeling full which helps during the detox phase and it helps with bloat, belly fat, and energy.
