Goal Weight
180.0 lb
Still to go: 72.0 lb
I am a 74 year old Type II diabetic. I was married for 50+ years and widowed since 7-3-2018. I have four daughters, 16 Grand children and 8 Great Grand children. I was a Coatings Chemist by trade for 48 years and retired in November of 2018. I am an Ex-marine, Vietnam Vet.

I have been known to play with a guitar as well as a trumpet and a violin. Have added the piano and ocarina.

I'm a computer geek who loves to cook and listen to audio books. Since being retired, in spite of my protests, I still do a bit of woodworking and have finished rebuilding my kitchen. I have added a lapidary operation and studio to go with the woodworking and stained glass works.

I went from 370 pounds when I started and stopped when I got to 260 which took a year. I figured 110 pounds deserved a break. I am currently at 262 pounds which I have held for the last 7 years.

I have decided to come back and pick up where I left off and get rid of the last 100 pounds.

You may have noticed that I have not mentioned sports or exercise. No reason to guess. I hate physical activity even though I understand the need for It.

I have added a stationary bike for some exercise but am going slow as I was diagnosed with A-fib, a fully blocked aortic artery which I seem to have grown my own by-passes for and ascemic heart disease in general. The weight loss can only be helpful.

Wishing all of us all the best!

1200 Calories written in STONE , What's with that?
I have been assigned a calorie level of 2900 a day. I have been eating 1800 or less for the last 20 years and all I've done is gain weight. Now they tell me that I'm not loosing because I don't eat enough and my body thinks I'm starving. My diabetes educator is telling me that My blood sugar and weight will stabilize if I start increasing my calories and carbohydrates. I have been following their advice for a year now. My starting weight was 370 and I fluctuate between 352 and 365. Up & Down.
I don't think any of them have a clue. I've been a type II diabetic for 26 years and have seen the advice come around 360 degrees. So i am still looking for something that works.
