Trying to change my mindset from feeling defeated to feeling successful with just some bumps in the road.

Blood Sugar(bs)was 139 at 10:00 a.m. Only drinking water since 7:00 p.m. last night. This is the highest morning bs I have ever had while doing LCHF. So frustrating... I waited an hour, it dropped down to 118. What happened to my low 100's??? Atkins meal bars at lunch? Hmmmm...IDK...

I have not cheated whatsoever. Although, I haven't felt myself or slept good for the last few days.

Just imagine, I could have had a sugary dessert or a margarita last night and woke up with a 139 bs, but I didn't. Something is definitely going on in my body. Time to check in with my primary care doctor. Just sent her a message.

Tomorrow, Saturday I'm going to lab to have the following blood tests done:
EDIT: Lab closed Saturday, Going on Monday!
Ordered by Neurologist:
FOLIC ACID LEVEL
VITAMIN B12 LEVEL
GLYCOHEMOGLOBIN A1C

Ordered by Primary Care Physician:
VITAMIN D LEVEL

Got a call in to the Endocrinologist for 24 hr urine Cortisol test results.

Stress can make your sugar rise, regardless how good you're eating. Trust me, I've had days where I was really bad, and my sugar was lower than on days when I've been really good.

TJSloan, I agree with you. I am stressed out about the yo-yo on LCHF. I gotta let it go. Thank you for your input! :)

Hope everything is okay and the lab tests help to figure things out. I've had both low vitamin B-12 and vitamin D. It's been okay the last couple times checked. I try to remember to take both vitamins but don't always. It must be frustrating to try so hard and still have the blood sugar so high.

your pancreas naturally makes insulin when you sleep no matter what you eat, which raises blood sugar, especially at the end of the night/early morning. It is one of the things that wakes your body up in the morning. always focus on the average BS over a week or two. I would worry over a single reading too much.

If the Atkins bars have malitol in them, it will shoot up your blood sugar.

Chef Martin good point! - Don't be frustrated or beat yourself up / You are a great person! You are just trying to change the package that's all

Moondove, I've been diabetic for 17 years, so I know what you mean! Your liver releases glucose at night because it interprets the "pause between meals" as "impending starvation." The way to take care of morning spikes: a VERY small bedtime snack of protein, fat, and a few carbs. I looked at your profile and see that you're doing LCHF. Choose something like a hardboiled egg (or two) (1 large = Calories: 78kcal, Fat: 5.30g, Carbs: 0.56g, Protein: 6.29g); or 2t peanut butter (Calories: 63.33kcal | Fat: 5.33g | Carbs: 2.67g | Protein: 2.33g) on a celery stalk (Calories: 6kcal | Fat: 0.07g | Carbs: 1.19g | Protein: 0.28g -- but who counts celery?!).

TANSTAAFL13, I just looked Atkins meal bars up, and yes they do have that ingredient in them. Thank you for your support.

johnwentzville, Thank you for your support. I am in the girl who takes things apart and puts them back together perfectly. I rebuilt fast cars with my Daddy. So, when I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, it really irks my gibbets! LOL!

Miraculum, Thank you for your input and support. I appreciate it. I am following a plan that my primary doctor has me on where I do intermittent fasting (IF) 16 hrs ea 24 hr period. I will really get to see how my BS is doing when I have my A1c on Monday. :)
