mardee57's Journal, 25 February 2014

Well after yesterdays meltdown I feel a little better. My weight can fluctuate so dramatically that it scares me. How do you lose 3 pounds overnight? Why does this always have to be such a struggle and a challenge? It's like your body is just waiting for you to let your guard down for one minute so it can sabotage you. I guess this motivated me to really hit it hard so next month when I go to visit my daughter in San Miguel de Allende, GTO Mexico I will look good. Nothing like going to a foreign country to see your kid to make you want to look your very best. Vein you say! Indeed!! I will be celebrating my 57th birthday and I was born in 1957 so it is a milestone and I want to look better than I have ever looked in my life... No pressure, no wonder I backslide, I place so much pressure on myself that it's almost unreasonable. I am so ready for the actual weight loss part of this journey to be at an end so I can concentrate on maintenance. It seems like it would be easier than always eating at a deficit. Not that my lifestyle will change, but, it will allow me to eat the same amount of calories everyday... Thank you to all my FS Buddies and your persistence in lifting me up, you have always been there for me, even when I have a hard time being here for myself. You are a wonderful group of people and I greatly appreciate your love and support!

You are going to be in amazing shape for your birthday and the trip. What great motivation to stay focused and get to the maintenance phase.

I know that feel Mardee, it is horrible... but it is part of our body's nature I guess. So cheer up and dont let the numbers scare you :) you will definitely make it to look perfect for your birthday! I'm so jealous :) I wish I was going to Mexico soon as well (I'm from MEX), enjoy the trip! a month is enough time for you to get ready.

Mardee I have the same problem, it's infuriating, isn't it? My weight also fluctuates DRASTICALLY, by 3 or 4 (and sometimes more) pounds, overnight. I never know if a weight loss is "real" or if it's just a random fluctuation, and I never know if gain is a real thing or if it's also just random (though the gains tend to hang around longer). It's like the weight you lost wants to come visit the old neighborhood and say hi to everyone! ARGH!

Mardee, as the time gets closer, you are feeling stress. Keep walking and eating your best choices, and you will achieve your goal! Breathe deeply and think positive. ♥

Use a spreadsheet to track your weight and use a floating 10-day average. Doing this will smooth out the daily ups-and-downs and show you your weight as a trend. As long as you're trending downward you're golden!

If it fluctuates a lot it is probably water retention and you may just want to try to hold back on the high sodium stuff. Take care :)

Thanks everyone great input I like that spreadsheet averaging trend idea. I feel like I do that by inputting my calories and what I eat on fat secret every day but maybe a spreadsheet would be more suitable. Colly thanks for your input as well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has that kind of dramatic weight gain. It is so frustrating! Thanks Deb you're always there for me I appreciate it? You also Chick, thanks! And what part of Mexico are you from? Chica and Tulip you're my girls! Thanks for always being here for all of us!
