Draglist's Journal, 18 November 2017

Woke at 213.0, down 6.6 after a huge water whoosh yesterday. Slept 12 hours last night and got my repair done, too! Waking ketone measurement was .9, which is within the .5 to 3.0 range for nutritional ketosis. So, glad I bought the meter as I never showed a trace on the urine strips. Water and coffee so far and I likely will fast until dinner. UPDATE: Fasted until 7 pm. Weighed in at 212.4 before eating. Also took another blood ketone measurement and got to 1.6 mm which is pretty great. I ate some turkey chops with peanut butter and curry (don't laugh -- it's great) and some Brussels sprouts. Ended the day at 754 calories.

Bill, what meter do you reccomend? Urine strips havent worked, ever for me, though I stick well to a quasi-keto diet.

Where do you buy the meter. Drug store?

I use the breath meter from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V...

Hi, Cerobit and Mesue. I bought the Precision Xtra device. I got it on Amazon.com. Hi, Skwhite. I was eating a lot of sodium all week and not enough water. The glycogen was built up and the dam had to break! Thanks, Barry and Connie.

Wait a second... 6.6 overnight?! That's really remarkable. I want my whoosh too!!

Yes, but if you look at my past week I put it all on in one week and then finally lost it to get back to about where I was. That's why watching the scale daily will drive folks crazy unless they know what's happening with body water levels.

12 hours? good for you! I barely get 6 or 7.

Is your waking time the ideal time for you measuring the ketone bodies? I was reading a keto blogger and they referenced 'the ideal time' and the difficulties folks have with urine strips not understanding the reading ( and all of the various things the reading doesn't tell you) and if they are in fact in nutritional ketosis. Granted, I think the blood meter is ideal and accurate so just curious about time. Glad you had a good 12 hours BTW.

Hi. I have no idea. I just figured it would be appropriate based on the length of my fast since my last meal. I fasted today, too, so it's 5 pm and I haven't eaten. I might measure again before I eat dinner to see what I get.

Thanks. My guess would be when you did it or after an extended fast for someone going more then there sleep time plus X. Thanks again.
