LOL...I keep telling my body to get it together, but it just doesn't listen. This rollercoaster is ridiculous. Today I am famished. Can't stop eating. Looked at the calendar and I am 4 days late! Hormones, thou art my nemesis.

You may think I am weird (and maybe I am) but you can really talk to your body and train it to respond to what you want. My body screams hunger at me lots of times but I will simply put off giving in to the food as I want my body to learn that it doesn't get fed because it is having a temper tantrum. It will get fed but when I decide it will be fed. I know this sounds a little hokey but it actually works. I couldn't for the life of me stay with a fast...my body rebelled, blood sugar numbers were erratic, etc. But I decided one day that we were going to do an 18 hour fast and my body wasn't going to wither up and die because of it. Yes, my body complained a bit but it overcame and after a few days, I am now able to fast with ease. My body may groan for something but I simply say, "wait." Our minds and bodies are much more complex that we realize. I have learned a lot of this from observing Bruce with his cancer. He has learned to push out pain by doing exactly what I am doing. I love you...give it a thought but I agree that sometimes hormones do play an big role in our body systems. You are very precious to me and I hate to see you tortured by the roller coaster...like I said earlier, we need to stick with the kiddie rides, they are easier on us.

I really identify with all the "head talk" around food. There is a low carb "challenge" starting July 2. Maybe join us...as I noticed your profile said lo=carb. I also watch/listen to some Youtube videos "Keto Kasey". She can be inspiring. She helped me get back on track! My best to you.

Not hokey at all 2227Gwen! Self talk is so important and so very powerful!

Thanks for sharing this; I'll experiment with a little explicit self - discipline.

I don't think it is weird at all. I really need to learn to stop myself and focus on that. We need to remember that we are not ruled by our bodies. We rule over them. Thank you Gwen for always having my back.

Self talk is HUGE! Good for you to recognize it. There's a great book called, "What To Say When You Talk To Yourself" by Shad Helmstetter. Great read, a good chunk of it deals with health and weight loss too. Also, I tend to get hungrier right before my cycle starts too. I figure my body is doing it's thing and I know it's only temporary.
