I love the 🐥 picture. Have you named them, yet?

What breeds?

The brown ones are Easter Eggers, the black with the white breast and face is an Australorp, the mostly black one is a Barred Plymouth Rock. The EE's will lay colored eggs, no idea on the color until they start laying, the other 2 will have brown eggs. Hi Jen, The one with the white breast is now Sassy--it fits her she has an attitude. Other than that names are not there yet.

OMG! You got a variety. How exciting! What do the dogs think of them?

Pullets I assume? In five to six months you should have the best eggs to eat!

OMG I would love to have chickens!! I wanted to buy the land by us to have some, and fruit trees. But its been sold now, and with 6 dogs, I cant see it being a happy life for them in our garden. So I will enjoy watching the progress of your little lovelies :D

YUP, a supply of fresh organic eggs in 4-6 months if they choose to lay in the winter. Pups have not met them yet and won't until they get to 3 or 4 weeks. All hens I don't want a rooster and can't have one anyway here in the city. The other black one now has a name Roxy the other two don't yet. Rindaloo, with 2 crazy pups and lots of raccoons and a few feral cats in the area, then there are the hawks and eagles they will have a coop and covered run made as predator proof as I can build. If the pups are good with them I will let them free range in the yard under supervision and my gardens are also fenced with welded wire so in the spring and fall can pop them in there to "play". I live in a city but my yard backs up to a wooded area of a good size park and the creek goes right down to the Missouri River at the bottom of the bluff.

I will. Hauling bags of dirt today to level out the spot for the coop and run. Dang humidity is not nice 90% earlier per my phone app. My asthma does not like it. So one trip from the drive to the backyard and stop to breathe for a few. Wish the humidity would go away.

Hate humidity. Take care of yourself.

One trip with 2 bags in the wheelbarrow, take a break, do it again. Still need 20 more bags but am out of dirt. We have had little storms passing through off and on all day so will get dirt another day this week. No way am I putting dripping bags of dirt in the back of my almost new car! Noo truck--use my Suv as a truck LOL.

I picked up 7 Easter Eggers and 6 Welsummers this spring (with one Jersey Giant rooster to watch for hawks) as my older hens have been dying and I'm only getting about 3 eggs a day now. It's so much fun watching them grow up.

They are so lovely! Hope they pay back for all your efforts with lots of fresh eggs 😊

Unuzee, you have a flock of chicks!! Sorry about your older hens. I can only have at the most 6 since I live in a city. The Welsummers are pretty. I was planning on chicks next year giving me lots of time to build their coop--well, that didn't happen ;)So now pushing to get a coop built in 5 or 6 weeks with no days off work except weekends.

That humidity sounds nasty. Glad you finished and will have a respite. I hate humidity like that. It is so hard to breath and do anything without pouring sweat.
