BuffyBear's Journal, 18 November 2011

I am very bad. I agreed to dog sit this week. Have known about it for a month but "neglected" to tell my husband until this morning. And my intentions get even more evil. The woman I'm sitting for is pregnant and will be giving the dog away and I secretly would love to adopt him. Am hoping after this week my husband will feel the same way.

The cold weather has finally arrived here too - I actually had to dig out my winter coat. Don't want to freeze during my walk today.

Wishing everyone a Happy Friday.

Paula - DH grumbles a lot, but he is just like me - he can't say no to family. Or in this case, ex family (she is my ex-step daughter in law).

PS - Paula - He is a terrier mix, the same size as my Shih Tzu.

Rocky - yes, just hoping he falls in love with him.

lol Buffy - that sounds like a brilliant plan - don't be surprised if the dog becomes more attached to your husband if it all works out. I adopted two cats and my husband was not overly excited about it - now one of the cats (Tiggy) and my husband are nearly inseparable!!! I call my husband the Tiggy Magnet - because if he sits down Tiggy just appears from nowhere to sit on him. I hope it all works out - enjoy your weekend.

Tracy - Nice that Tiggy has a lifelong buddy. I just wish people would get their pets spayed/neutered so we don't have such a glut of animals that have to be put to death - or worse - abused.

I couldn't agree more - unless you are a proper breeder, all animals should be spayed/neutered. When you "adopt" from our local animal home they spay/neuter the animals before you take them home.

LOL...yeah, you - bad...I don't think so! But, nice try anyway. "Forgetful" maybe...LOL, what ever, good luck with the plan, I hope YOU still want the dog after spending more time with it. I love animals, but mostly the well behaved ones best! It is cold here too, I am even wearing long underwear, but, at least for this weekend you will have a new furry friend to snuggle up with!

GG - that is part of the plan - I may not want him after the week is up.

Buffy, you sneaky devil, you! Hope it goes better than when DH agreed to dog-sit over TG a few years ago. I was out-voted 3 to 1. Both visiting, housebroken dogs decided to "go" - both - in a few places and the one was always a challenge to manage with my male. It was THE WORST TG holiday....I counted the hours until the couple returned to claim their dogs. Never again!!! Well....I take that back. I WAS momentarily considering fostering a litter of 7 Collie puppies for a rescue organization until the already-arranged transport can come get them in 10 days. Then, my sanity returned - LOL!

Sandy - Yes - will have him Thanksgiving Day - dogs, grandkids, terrified cats - I may be sorry!

Sorry your plandid not work out maybe you could try fostering a dog for a rescue group---then you all can decide. My two doggies are rescues and they worked out beautifully.

TE HE that would be the kind of thing I would do, I could never just come out and say it....it would have to be a gradual thing. My hubby is a real animal lover but says he gets too attached then gets too upset when they die. I don't understand that logic I loved the 18 1/2 years Ben our Cairn spent with us, yes I miss him but the joy he brought was worth the hurt when he went. Daisy is now a little old lady, so I would like another dog to fill in when she goes......but he won't hear of it.....I can't imagine not having a dog around.......so maybe just maybe I will do something like that and hope it just works out.....
