Hi - Thanks for the visit. For starters I am 50 & fat & live in Wisconsin! LOL! I try to always look for the good side in things, I try to stay positive. I am an office worker by day, for fun I look to the outdoors. I love to go walking/hiking year round - some day I would like snow shoes for all this snow. Winter fun for me is snowmobiling, I love it. Summer time is for boating, spring & fall are for nature walking and the never ending yard work & gardening.

My goal is to stay motivated - never say never & never, EVER quit! Anyway, that's the plan.

170's - Achieved 3/6/2011!!!

160's - Weighed in @ 169 on 4/27/2011!!

-->> 25 pounds lost on 5/15/2011!!!

6/17/11 - Update...Birthday puts me at 51, weight of 163 even = 31 pounds lost, I wore my size 10 CWC dress pants to work today for the first time in like 3-4 years & they look great, I feel great!

6/21/11 - First day of summer! I weighed 161.4 lbs at my last weigh in on 6/18/11. I am more than 1/2 way to my goal of 140 lbs, I have lost almost 30 pounds (29.4 to be exact)! Since I am 5' 6", a healthy weight for me is 124-155. Magically, 155 is the weight that will put me in the healthy BMI range.

150's - 158.8 on 7/7/11!!! Only 3.8 pounds to healthy weight!!!

155 - will mark a milestone, entrance to the healthy BMI club!!!! YAHOOO @ 154.2 on 7/23/11

NEVER MIND the whole month of August 2011, just a little blip, but made it back to 155 on 8/30/2011!!

151.4 - 9/17/2011, means 40 pounds lost! A milestone I must document

150.0 - 9/24/2011; only 10 more pounds! Wooo Hooo!

140's - 11/19/2011 @ 148.8...Yippee Skippee all the way to Pre-Maint!!!

145 = TBD

Update 11/22/2012 - Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot - First timed race @ 148 pounds! 5 Miles with my Faithful Doggie-Girl at my side;
My Time: 48:27
My Pace: 9:42 per mile
My Division: 2nd out of 4 (she beat me by 20 seconds, or 1 potty stop)

Not bad for a 52 year old x-smoker/x-party girl...not bad at all!

A question for Atkins and former Atkins dieters
I had to do a reality check too! Still do, on a daily basis. Keeping carbs in control really helps with keeping cravings out of my life. So, for me, keeping my carbs lower is key to keeping my calories in line in a manner I can happily live life with. I don't feel deprived, I feel full, I have lots of energy most days & totally enjoy food in a way I don't think I ever did before Atkins!

Why is it so difficult to stick with an exercise plan?
I so agree....quit thinking about it & DO IT, & be happy about it too! The more we think about it, the more likely we are to come up with ALL the reasons something else just HAS to get done! I like to do my excercise in the morning, so I get up early, (really early, about 4:30-4:45), I will admit that some mornings just getting up is the hardest part, but I am always glad I did & even happier that I got my excercise in!

Swimming workouts
What a great post! I have been swiming since May & am starting to get bored. Thanks TURIGOLE, for the ladder & interval training tips, I will be giving those a try on Tuesday!

saddle bags
I have the same trouble spot, swimming has worked wonders, plus I run & in the winter I use an eliptical.
