Annabelle3117's Journal, 07 May 2015

Good morning everyone. I'm exhausted, and stressed. So much going on right now with an exam tonight, clinicals tomorrow and Monday, my son's birthday tomorrow, and of course mother's day on Sunday. Yikes.

A couple non scale victories this morning. Firstly I baked my sons birthday cupcakes this morning since I'm hardly going to have time to tomorrow. I chose a sugar free cake mix (my daughter is becoming insulin resistant so always trying to cut sugar where I can). Then I realized, we don't need twenty-four cupcakes. That's just more temptation, and more junk food sitting around the house all weekend... so I only baked twelve. Yup, I used only half the batter and pitched the rest. *pats self on back* Secondly, I was preparing my son's special school snack for tomorrow, which is just some cream stuffed cookies, and had a few left over once I'd bagged up the bulk of them. Pitched the extras too, straight into the trash can. Might not seem like much, but as busy as I've been and as stressed as I am, this was huge.

All of the overwhelming stress brings out bouts of depression, so I've been dealing with the 'why bother' mentality. The big thing that has been helping with the desire to throw in the towel and grab a big mac is my daughters insulin resistance. I can't give up even if I want to, no way I'm going to sit idly by and let her become a diabetic. Staying strong, even if it's not always for me. Have to keep the junk food out of the house, keep active every day, and set a good example. (Thinking of her came in very handy when for a brief moment I considered making 24 cupcakes, she would probably eat far more than her fair share.)

So the remainder of the day I need to spend cleaning and studying, or maybe I'll just mow the grass for a little quiet time. Exam tonight, meh, I'm not too concerned about it. I tend to do well, knock on wood! Tomorrow morning from the crack of dawn until noon is clinicals, then my sons birthday dinner in the evening. In between the two I have to run to the grocery store to get the supplies, and clean up the house. *sigh* tired already!

It's okay, I'm going to get through this one thing at a time!! Just gotta keep telling myself that.

Have a great day buddies!

Good luck on the tests, and if you want to throw the towel in throw it in the washing machine. You are doing this for you and no one else you can do it :)

Good for you! I REALLY struggle with wasting food. I'm almost obsessive about it. I applaud your ability to do that! You have Mom strength!!!

That makes perfect sense! I was raised in a time when it was a sin to waste food but I've come to learn that it is more of a sin to defile our bodies with junk food. Yolanda - hang tough through these busy times - it won't always be this way.
