At what point do you just throw in the towel and call it a life? I have been this weight for a year now. OBVIOUSLY my body likes it this way (the little bi&@#).

A question many of us have asked ourselves. Wow. Thoughts regarding myself and difficulty to lose the 20 I gained. I remember what I felt like and looked like with less weight so would like to reach that goal. However, it's been tough. 5 gone with 15 more to go. But I look at it I'm trying to eat a health and balanced diet, so whatever happens, I'm doing what is best for me.

i feel the same way; but then what if you start gaining and gaining (like I am)? I had to remind myself to eat fage today and have fish and veggies for dinner..... remind yourself why you started and how far you've come! there's also great people to follow on fb and instagram for inspiration... xoxo Tulip

Depends if you are happy with the weight your body is stuck on. I have been going up and down to the same weight for 6 months and I hate it because in MY case I know its my fault, I let emotions and stress get to me and eat or I go below my "stuck" weight and reward myself and end up going on a binge. So you are not alone, don't give up, take one day at a time and try something different to see if that will jump start you again. The one guy I follow on here has been fasting one day a week and that seems to work for him but I love my food so I haven't tried that yet

Lots of empathy here. Dropped my first 20 lbs without effort. Have been trying to lose the last 10 for the last 6 months. Give yourself some credit, you've been struggling with bad reactions, sugar, etc. etc. Try eating what you like (in moderation of course). Cut yourself some slack, just eat healthy and see what happens.

you said 'emotional eater', I was too from stress. It took actually going to a medical professional to not only point me in the right direction, but with the way my life was heading show me how to focus and re-evaluate how I was coping with all the s##t storm that was my existence. Maybe it's time to re-evaluate, find a new direction and not be afraid to seek a professional?

I understand how you may feel but there may be ways its hake up the system like switching up exercise. High intensity interval training may speed up the metabolism. Get your thyroid checked. Also try calorie rotation meaning high then low. Do not ever give up. There is always hope!

Instantcrazy, I know you have a hectic work schedule working 2 jobs, is it possible that lack of sleep is part of what is going on? Lack of sleep is sometimes a partial cause for not losing. You are a vegetarian, I've learned that it's harder to stay on a healthy vegetarian plan when you are crazy busy. That's usually when I end up eating more animal proteins, it's quicker and less to think about. Let your body get some rest. You say you do all the cooking, maybe your girlfriend could help you out some.

IC. Can you log all your food for a weeks so we can see what you're doing? What amazes me is how little more you can eat while on maintenance than when you're on a weight loss cycle. 3 pieces of fruit could be enough to shoot you in the ... wherever you gain easiest.

There are so many things that can be stalling your weight loss. Vegetarians have it particularly tough, believe it or not, because so many carbs are available. With those carbs come the water weight. Beans, rice, etc., though nutritous, are very carb dense. Picking the least carb dense and protein packed veggies helps. Tracking is the best way to see what is going on with you. By the way, my body REALLY wants to hang on to these numbers too. Have to work at it. I just refuse to give up!!

Definitely more carbs eating a plant based diet, however you can do it. Stay away from those junk foods and processed stuff. Get off the sugar in any form except some fruit for awhile. Like NM says log your foods consistently for awhile, I know it helps me stay on track. If it wasn't for logging foods I would still be limping around hurting all the time, 60 or probably more pounds more than I should be,

I am the exact same way.. I've been going at it since January 2014, and I've lost about 25 pounds, but I still have about 25 pounds more to lose. I've been stuck anywhere between 145-147 for who knows how long and it doesn't seem to want to budge at all. I'm almost at the point of thinking my body doesn't even want to lose any more weight!

more carbs eating the processed foods than anything else: pasta, breads, etc compared to otherthings is eye opening, there is a lot 'hidden' in foods we don't even realize...from 'health drinks' like vitamin water, to 'non-fat' cottage cheese (has more sugar and carbs than regular!!). don't be fooled by the marketing label, read the nutrition label instead.. it's shocking.

Ok I'm going to start logging my foods again. Maybe this is a case of I think I eat healthy but I really don't.

I am not sure what exactly kicked me into high gear to take this all seriously...but the one thing (after 44 years of eating CRAP) that sticks out in my mind over and over is that now, all food that we are given, is of no color. This article is kind of old--but it says it all to me! http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/110308p34.shtml At this point, I don't care half as much about the number on the scale as I do about the "foods" big business is trying to kill me with to turn a profit. Don't EVER throw in the towel...just find a new you!!
