Jonathan Walsh's Journal, 12 April 2015

Just clearing my head this morning. I'm a little apprehensive about stepping on the "Idiot Box", as HBC calls it (I love the moniker), in the morning. I've stuck to my plan. I've had a good week. However, I know the week after a big drop is generally disappointing & I want to be prepared if that be the case. So, I just got to keep my mental game strong, take what the Idiot Box gives me or not, & keep fighting the good fight. The mountain is what the mountain is. I will remain focused on the task at hand. I will remain tenacious. I will be resolute. My climb will continue tomorrow; no matter the ebb or flow of the Idiot Box, me eyes are trained on the peak. Onward & upward team.

Yup - that is the best attitude! It is just a number - not our self-worth. Give that Idiot Box a kick!

Don't worry about what the idiot box says - this is about so much more than numbers on a scale.

Great encouraging words! You got this!

The idiot box is only a tool. Use it as a reminder of what worked for the week and a nudge to modify the things that don'. With that thought out there - lets be real, we all hate that darn thing.

Mattstoc is right. Hope you get a good drop but regardless it's the longer term that really counts.

Yeah, the Idiot Box is a complicated love / hate relationship for me. I love it when it's kind, & hate it when it is less than kind. I can't lie though, a good number does give me a euphoric boost. However, I know I must remain tenacious when the number delivers disappointment. Sermon heard! My journey is not about what the Idiot Box will say tomorrow. It's about what it will say each & every Monday & my job is to keep making it say less & less; until its' voice is so quiet, I can't hear it speak. Motivation received! Thank you!

LOL Jonathan, it is difficult to maintain that positive attitude when a small loss or even a gain. Especially if it lasts for a while. However, sometimes when your weight shows little loss, your body is rearranging itself and your clothes actually fit looser. I like to think of "losing weight" as "releasing the pounds"....I think that is a more positive outlook, takes the negative stigma out of the former statement, and possibly gives you an active role in your mental preparedness.

You have a great attitude! I hate the morning weigh in--esp on Sunday and Mondays. It seems it always goes up. My sister came over today and noticed "a little" difference. yayeee!
