BuffyBear's Journal, 12 July 2014

Just a quick catch up journal. Not offering excuses - just the facts.

Got a bad sinus infection and the antibiotics completely changed my taste. All I wanted was junk. Even after I started feeling better I just couldn't find the motivation to re-educate my taste buds.

Starting back with baby steps. This week I'm cutting out the junk. Why don't they have Rehab for carb addicts?

Awwww, hope you are feeling better. Being sick messes up what you want to eat, been there. Messes up exercise as well. Welcome back

Don't re-educate your taste buds that's the wrong attitude, think of it as a chance to eat the stuff you like that just happens to be healthy. Personally I love to munch out on a cut vegatable plate with humus and squeezed lemon to dip into or a nice amount of salsa. Or Korean style bbq meat wrapped in the traditional large lettuce leaves with all those tasty pickeled vegs and bean paste. Or I traditional baked Kitchkee where the animal fat used is replaced with olive oil and beef boullion used for taste and the flour is cut in half and built up with some canned beans (to go with the other vegs). It's all about the taste.... If you look at it as a re-education you won't be successful... look at it as a treat to get something you like.... after all the truth is you looked at being sick as a chance to just pig out on Junk Food. The truth is if your taste was off from being sick it would have tasted lousy for the Junk Food as well... Don't deceive yourself... I know so well because I have done it in the past! You can't fool another addict... :)

What is kitckee? Can't even find it on an internet search. Korean bbq sounds like something I need to try.

Carbohydrates in the junk food is the devil! It is so hard to break, isnt it?

Wholefoodnut - the illness started it. Lack of motivation finished me off!

Yes, my friend, it's so good to have you back. I'd been away myself and paid the price as I got farther and farther from the healthy ways I'd been working on and had been working for me. You have the right approach, take baby steps back to what feels right for you. And don't beat yourself up about the past, it's just that... past -- each day or meal or moment is a chance to again build the lifestyle you want. As you said with baby steps, one day at a time. Glad you're feeling better and to have you back! Xoxox

Welcome back. Start slowly. We all did. Maybe try a small challenge. You always did well on the challenges!
