Last leg of my "senior citizen circuit" starts tomorrow! Yes, I'm gearing up for what I'm jokingly/lovingly calling my senior citizen circuit tour -- last trip with MIL & part of time to visit good friend's mother, & now off tomo to see my Mom. Wish me luck! As I may have already said, my Mom is in the early stages of Alzheimer's, so this trip will be more stressful, but I've been planning for it, praying about it & have a great support system both here online & back home where my 2 close friends also have/had a parent with the disease.

Eager to see how Mom is doing. She also struggles with a bulging disk, but for now she is pain free. Last time I was out there, it had flared up again & she was on pain meds until we could get her in for an epidural. The pain meds made her wackier than ever & I was afraid we were going to have to up her level of care, which she did not want. Luckily, the epidural worked (knocking on wood as I type), and she seems better (as good as she's been with stage 1 Alzheimer's), but until I see her, her apartment, etc., I really can't be sure. Last visit, I found her wearing stained clothes, mail she wasn't sure what to do with in numerous places throughout her apartment & confused a lot. But, in speaking with her daily, that doesn't seem to be the case now.

So, again today & multiple times throughout this trip, I'll start in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

And, I'll pray, breathe, log, post & express on this one travel prepping day, meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time. Happy Valentine's Day my FS friends! Sending you love & hugs! xoxox

As you said the other day 'been there done that' ... its definitely challenging. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers but I know you'll handle it fine. Take care of you in the mix of your 'golden tour' - let's meet and have tea so you can talk.

I feel for what you are going through. My Grandmother promised me her beautiful blue sapphire ring - then I found out she promised it to all of my cousins too - sometimes you just have to laugh! Hope you find her pain free and in good spirits.

Morning Ruth- hope your trip goes well and you find your mother well and that she hasn't deteriorated since you last saw her- It can be an emotional rollercoaster dealing with aging parents. I hope you have a smooth ride.
