That darn # on the scale... why can't I just be happy that its down... & elated that I'm back at my goal! Instead, I'm concerned about if I can maintain it! Well, that's just 1 more thing I can pray about today!

In my haphazard way, I finished the book I've been reading about Mindful Eating, "Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat", meaning I read what I was most interested in & thought applied to me & could use, and skipped over the rest. There's references to fear-based eating... maybe I could write a section on fear-based weighing in! While I don't agree personally with everything in the book (particularly that I can't yet give up what they call restrictive eating, but learned much about and from the references to instinctive eating and overeating), it is definitely a book I'll go back to over & over. I can only imagine that I'm not the only one here who has read an almost infinite number of weight loss books, most of which were not worth the cost of the download. This one is a keeper for me! So, thought I'd share a few of highlights for me --

If you aren't hungry when you start eating, how do you know when to stop?

You don't need to be in control, you need to be in charge.

When a craving doesn't come from hunger, eating will never satisfy it.

Rather than eating on autopilot, eat with intention & attention. Eat with the intention of feeling better when you're done than you did when you started.

Eat the perfect bite first -- not necessarily the healthiest one, but the one you really want to eat. If you save the best for last (as I always did), you may want to eat it even if you're full.

And finally, what I'm aspiring to -- When I'm hungry, I eat what I love. When I'm bored, I do something I love. When I'm lonely, I connect with someone I love. When I feel sad, I remember that I am loved.

Just some food for thought (couldn't resist the pun)! I'll be thinking about it all as I get ready to travel again on Friday to see my Mom, but thats another journal -- probably tomorrow's! So again today, I'll start in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

And, I'll pray, breathe, log, post & express for this one day, meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time. xoxox

Now, now, now . . . You maintained that weight before Christmas. With spring right around the corner why ever would you doubt your ability now? And before I forget CONGRATULATIONS! Thanks for sharing what you are reading.

I am sure your 'weight history' doesn't tell the full story - but you have been maintaining w/in 3 lbs of the same weight for four months!!! That is a fantastic job!!!! You are doing all kinds of things right...give yourself credit where credit is due...and enjoy your life! That tiny little box we call a scale doesn't determine the quality of the person you are! Four months of consistency speaks volumes!!!!

Angel, as always, I'm in awe of you. Inspired by you. Elevated you to an even higher level of respect for not only reading the entire book but for being kind and diligent to share so many highlights here. I soooo loved your paragraph on the things you are aspiring to -and will confess now I plan to borrow those for myself - they were fantastic! My prayer for you today is that you will love yourself as much as I do. You're incredible. Bella

What would I do without you all! No matter what crazy thoughts my mind sends my way, you all set it straight! Thanking you all as I bask in your love & support! xoxox (P.S. I read a great article posted in a forum titled "Why The Scales Can Lie" about weight fluctuations -- it's long, but check it out if/when you have time.)

Hey Angel, I'm back. I'd read that article at several differnt locations even before that post - it was a huge part of my getting off the scale. BTW - congratulations at being back at goal, CELEBRATE, and be happy. You deserve it with all the hard work you've invested in yourself!
