HCB's Journal, 21 July 2012

I had a couple lower calorie days this week, so today I will take my Buddys DK and FOL's advice to go above my RDI and have a "special" dinner cooked at home to celebrate my husband's birthday.

I still will be able to control things (like no extra fats added to the cooking and no butter on the vegetables)and eat pretty much what he is eating. I will eat beef for the first time in over four months! And, have my usual yummy summer fruits for dessert. No cake - he doesn't really eat cake - he loves sweets (candy) but not cake. And will drink my one gallon or more of water (up to five liters). So SPIKE day, here I come!

So, if I add up the last seven days of calories and divide by seven, I get about 1160 calories per day - which is just under my RDI of 1200. If my loss continues to be slow, I may try to eat more on some days to push things along. Problem is I have hypothyroid and sometimes have a low appetite, and it seems stupid to just eat for the sake of eating.

Got a good bike ride in today too. It had been a while since I rode because it was so hot and I've been using DVDs - but today was a beautiful day with low humidity!

If you saw my Food Diary, you would see that I cheat ALL THE TIME. Not CONSTANTLY, but several times a month. I guess I have been lucky that I have lost a lot of weight and been able to do that. So don't feel guilty AT ALL. Also, you're doing it responsibly, your'e planning it and thinking carefully about what you will eat. That's awesome! You will be just fine.

Your buddies are giving you great advice about eating to wake up metabolism. Such a carnivore I am! My doctor has "assigned" a diet to lower cholesteral for me so I am learning to eat foods besides hot dogs, bacon, salami, & hamburger. Your weight is DOWN today - right? I think you are doing great. You will rock that bike ride Girl! So much fun!
