Question. Whats your personal opinion on one day a week having a cheat day?

I really look forward to my Saturday cheat day. It's like a release of control and I can just enjoy the day. But then when I get on the scale the next day I get so mad at myself for gaining a pound or two. I am just undecided if it's really worth it. I feel like it is until I get on the scale....lol

Honestly.. a cheat day just means to me that I'm still hanging on to the thought that it is ok to be / eat / weigh like I once did. Eventually a cheat day becomes a cheat weekend and then a horrible cheat week. Once I finally convinced myself (subconsciously) of who I plan to be.. I will only "cheat" the way that person would. It sounds like a bunch of crap but it really has worked.

Personally, I can't do it because one cheat day would turn into two then three, etc. The scale thing would probably send me into a tail spin, too, because I'd know I did it to myself. But, having said that, I know other's here have different opinions on the subject and different things work for different people. Good luck figuring this out.

Now that I'm in maintain I have a cheat day every week or two, but while trying to lose it was a hindrance. I decided to scrap a weekly cheat day and have an occasional cheat meal that wasn't normally in the routine for weight loss.

Diet Doctor Andreas Eenfeld videos are worth watching. In one it explains that Insulin is the problem. Anything that raises insulin levels causes the body to store excess as fat and thereby stops you using fat in foods as an energy source whilst that stored glycogen etc is used up. Again so obvious and easy to understand and agree with but not so easy to put into practise.

How about not so much a cheat day but maybe just ONE thing that you really really want. So that way you're still satisfied but not cheating the whole day or maybe scale it down to every other week? I've had cheat months lol. Good luck

New here. Is there a way set your own max calorie goal?

Works for some people, totally screws up other people. I can't do it. Testing it out and seeing how your body reacts to it is about all I can say.

i would definitely eliminate a cheat DAY as it can undo all of your progress from the week prior, and i would limit it to a reasonable cheat meal. I am talking like an ice cream sundae, one with the least amount of macros, not a 2000 cal sundae... because that right there is 1500 cals away from one pound. Which you probably consumed more than that amount prior to the sundae. Thats my two cents =] speaking from experience! I have been leaning for about 2 months now, I have seen a lot of progress, but man has it felt like it took forever! Getting it right was the hardest thing, the first month was basically just a trial and error lol.

Cheat day would kill me....maybe a cheat meal. I do allow a treat once a week now that I am in maintenance.

I weigh on Fridays. I usually loosen up a bit over the weekend, nothing too crazy, usually more calories than usual while still staying LC. I definitely DON'T weigh til next Friday.

I think it is all about, what you can get away with. Everyone's metabolism is different. I know I just had a pretty healthy, cheat meal, for sure. So I may wander over to the Fair, and walk it off. I looked sideways in the mirror today, and realized, I could still lose a bit more.

A cheat day turns into a binge for me. The minute I start thinking that way I am in trouble. I had 5 chips last night...5...turned into 10..turned into 3/4 a bag. It was a cheat chip. I can't allow the attitude change - I have to stay ever vigilant.

Do you schedule a fast day to balance your cheat day?
