*** Update 2017
So after spending 2016 getting my weight down to acceptable levels and keeping it off the remainder of the year I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Apparently everytime I get healthy I'm going to getting a life threatening disease lol. This time I'm determined to not feel sorry for myself and add 50+ pounds while I'm recovering.

Spent over a year below my goal weight was in the best shape of my life. I was walking 3-4 miles a day and doing great had successfully quit smoking for over 3 years at that point. Then I torn my rotator cuff and did physical therapy for 3 months with no relief so my doctor was set to schedule surgery. Before he could operate I had a heart attack out of the blue.

After the heart attack I had to wait a year to come off blood thinners long enough to get surgery. So after a year of being weakened, physically and mentally, by the heart attack and dragging my dominant arm around in pain I packed on 50 pounds (I like to think of it as bubble wrap for my heart)

After surgery in January 2014 it took until July or August before I could use my arm fully. So now I no longer have excuses I'm finally working my way back down.

Logging everything everyday, or not?
For me logging everything really helps keep me on track. I'll often log ahead especially when planning to go out for a meal so I know exactly what I can order to stay in my range.

STRESS AND STICKING TO THE PLAN
I can't give you pointers on how to stay on track when stressed, but if you look at my weight history I can show what happens when you don't. My Mother in Law passed right before I hit my goal weight in 2010 and me and the wife both fell off the wagon. Fortunately I got myself under control after only gaining half of it back. Trust me the second time is a lot harder.
