Crab and Avocado Salad

An appetizing salad of mixed greens with crab and avocado in a creamy sauce.

  1. Drain the tinned crab and place in a bowl.
  2. Chop up tomatoes, cucumber, cilantro and avocado and add to the bowl, and squeeze the lime into the mixture.
  3. Add the red onion, yogurt and mayonnaise, and the cayenne, salt and pepper and mix it all together.
  4. Serve with the salad leaves. You could top with some pine nuts if you're feeling artistic.
  5. Note: based on a recipe from the South Beach diet.

I have had a salad similar to this...try adding grapefruit and lose the mayo

I added red bell peppers, diced jalapenos and celery and did away with the yogurt. If you like spicy food, the jalapenos add a nice kick

This was by far the best salad I have ever had. I wanted to eat the whole bowl. Instead of mayonaise I used greek nonfat plain yogurt to cut the calories. I will definitely be making this salad often and using it to impress house guests. LOL!

This was so yum, but I'm very appreciative to blueicole for the pepper warning! A tsp of cayenne would have been far too hot. I cut it down to about a quarter of a teaspoon and found it to be perfect.I'll definitely be doing this one again!

My wife made this salad for dinner. Served it it on a bed of lettuce. Excellent

This was a great salad! Just watch how much cayenne you put! I skipped the salt and the pepper because the herbs are a wonderful accent to the crab! It's a good thing my family likes it hot!
