Hi! My name is Robin, I am a 56, married to an awesome guy and have 8 children, all grown and all moved out!!! YES! As a young person, I was not fat but always felt fat. Looking back, I realize how silly it all was. But now I am older, and my metabolism is different and staying at a healthy weight is too challenging for me. I have tried lots of diets and I really am not ready to accept that I have to give up stuff the rest of my life!! Deprivation is not something I do well...or at all. And to some 56 probably sounds old, but I plan on being around for another 40 years and I want to enjoy the simple pleasures God has given us...like chocolate and coconut cream pie!!!

So Atkins it is! I am in day 3 of induction. I have made a commitment and with the help of God and the community, I will succeed. I weighed 199 on my first day, December 26 (day AFTER Christmas) and on day 3 I am down to 197! Immediate results are encouraging.

Need help
Ummm, how do you know you are in ketosis? Maybe I missed it, but are you using the stix? And what buddies are saying about the sugar alcohols is so right. I was stalled, then eliminated the only sugar alcohols in my diet...those yummy, horrible atkins bars, and now I am progressing seadily. I havent tried sugar free syrup on anything because i have NO PANCAKES, lol. I could put it on broccoli, lol. Acutally , I am staying in induction. It is so black and white for me and that is what I need to stay on track. Perhaps a new clean induction would get those scales moving in the right direction!

yes, too many YUMMY things YOU can eat without eating stuff you dont like!!! Eat steak, cheeseburgers (hold the buns), bacon, chicken, porkchops, BACON, bluecheese dressing, cheeeeeese, avocado, BACON, eggs, pesto, etc. lots and lots of stuff. I am in week four of the atkins plan and have eaten fish only once...tuna out of a can...just cuz I had a craving for it. Dont eat the fish if you dont like it!!!

Using ketostix is awesome, but does it have to blaze dark..
yes I use these stix too. I found them at the local chain pharmacy; I asked the pharmacist's clerk, and he had them behind the counter. I like using them every once in a while to get my brain on board with everything. I am a visual learner, and if I can just SEE something, it is way better for me. So somehow, seeing that pink to purple color makes me realize that science is working and reinforces the idea that I need to stick to my plan.

Order in a Mex Restaurant
Grilled shrimp, or grilled steak with a green salad plus tomatoes and avocado is another great option! Mexican resaurants always have meats they can sautee or grill for you, and tons of veggie options!!! Hope you have a great time!
