Late 30's white male.. Married 17 years with 3 kids.. Formerly quite active but neck injuries, depression and a sedentary lifestyle have contributed to gaining weight over the years - Hard to believe I was 152 coming out of basic training 19 years ago, with a 32" waist...

Have dieted in various forms over the years, and have ballooned as high as 285 and gotten as low as 210. Been pretty stable in the 225-235 range for the past several years.

My goal is simple - I want to be back to 175 by my 40th birthday in November, I want to reclaim that athletic body I once had and be one of those guys girls used to check out..

My rewards -

break the 200 lb mark - go skydiving

175 lb mark - get my phoenix tattoo

Drivers License Weight vs. Actual Weight
LOL - in South Carolina, they retain the information you first put on it, and if they ever reissue they just reuse - We moved there in 98, left in 03 and went back in 07 - I just read this post and had to check what I had put down - 210 in 1999... LOL probably lied by 20lbs...
But I am only 9 lbs away from 210 now...

Navigating St Patty's day...
I wouldn't say "a lot", but I know we will have some - can't exactly go wine tasting and not have some wine Smile

The fact I really haven't drank but a few beers in the last few months also means my tolerance is very low too, so I am probably over assuming my consumption - figure a few glasses worth of wine and half dozen beers. I guess if I allocate my calories properly during the week, I can "save up"

Navigating St Patty's day...
Ok, so I KNOW I will be drinking a healthy dose of alcohol on St Patty's day, as will others I am sure. I will be in Asheville that weekend with my wife celebrating our 17th anniversary, and won't even try to kid myself into thinking water will be the only thing I drink all weekend Very Happy First stop is the Biltmore Vineyards and it will be all down hill from there..

Outside of abstinence, what are some "healthy" suggestions to minimize the damage?

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Daily, but "officially" weigh myself once a week. I look at the scale each morning to determine my meal planning for the day - for instance if I overdo it yesterday, I rearrange my meals today.
