I decided to do some teensy goals this year because the massive goals for the past ten years haven't worked. I do good for a bit then something throws me off, I realize the goal is impossible and quit trying. So I'm making some teensy goals, ones easy to meet, and if I do better then wonderful.
Goals:
* lose one pound a month (hey that equals 12 pounds a year!)
* exercise 5 minutes a day
* write 250 words a day
* select one book and one piece of clothing to give away each month (I'm a bit of a book hoarder.)

I am also looking for a support buddy. I did great the beginning of last year, then stopped tracking food and ended up a lot heavier. I'm in my early 60s so losing weight isn't as easy!

Venting to the void, but feel safe enough here to do so
I hear you ... and understand. I'm going through the same thing. I gain weight when I "try" to follow all the advice. Then I give up and eat poorly and gain more. Hang in there and do what works for you and forget what everyone else says. I made a plan for this coming year. I'm trying the golo supplements and will watch my calories. That's my plan for the year. Just figure out what works for you, and what you can fit into your lifestyle. Don't give up on yourself, you are worth it!
