I started to care about my weight when I reached 73 kg (161 pounds)/173 cm (5 feet 11 inches). I was 35 years old at that time and lived in Russia. It was 5 years ago.

I've never exercised much but by reducing the amount of food I eat and trying to eat more healthy (less bread and sugar, more vegetables) I managed to get to 60 kg (132 pounds) in one year. This weight held for a couple of years until I moved to the USA in late 2014. Then, slowly but steadily, it started getting back and eventually I reached 67kg (148 pounds). In the US, it is so easy to overeat, including dinners at restaurants. Also, there is so much processed food that contains corn syrup and/or sugar so it was very hard to control what I eat. This is when I decided I need to get back to my eating routine which was so much a success for me.

During August 3-25, 2018, I took a 3-week experiment while my husband was away on a business trip:
- No meat except for fish
- No added sugar - only natural sugar as found in fruit
- No alcohol
- 2 liters of water daily
- Not to exceed 1500 calories daily intake
My goal was to lose 3 kg (7 pounds) and reach 63 kg (139 pounds) by August 25. Eventually, my push was good enough to reach 63.6 kg (140 pounds).

I tried to continue with the same diet but less restrictive (i.e. eating meat and drinking wine occasionally), increasing daily steps count to 10000 and my calorie intake to 1700. It didn't last long, as I started to lead a more sedentary lifestyle again and overate. By May 2019, I was again at 68 kg (150 pounds), and now I'm focusing on eating healthy and within limits, again. I believe this is the trend in my life!
