@philrmcknight's Journal, 27 March 2018

So I gained a little weight from October thru December. Had a couple of stalled resets in January and the first of February, but now I'm back into full fat adaptation and food is pretty much, meh. Right where I want to be. You want to know the trick to losing, regardless of macros and completely forgetting calorie tracking or any of the other silly such bullcorn? Intermittent fasting where you fah-getta-bout food, you don't need it. You're hungry? So, what? And really, ARE you hungry? Probably not, you just wanna eat. Don't eat, reset your body, reset your metabolism, cleanse your system, and BE WELL!! It's not rocket science and it's kinda sorta uncomfortable at first, but you adapt, and are capable of amazing things. Don't be scared, just do it!

I do a lot of 16/8 fasting. Sometimes I’ll toss in a 24 hour fast when I can. It’s really helped. I’m at a standstill at the moment thanks to the delicious cake in my house! 🙈 hahaha back on track starting today, just finishing up a 24 hour fast.

Totally get it, Blair, I succumbed to delicious Halloween candy, that was the beginning of my "Hallow-Giving-Mas" slide. Back in the saddle, solider on!

Been doing IF-16/8 for 4 days now. First 2 were rough, but yesterday was a LOT easier. I suspect today won't be too difficult. :)

16:8 is a good way to start IF, it gets much easier to the point that 23:1 is just intuitive, then you can start skipping days, and doing three-day fasts, etc., not only good for keeping calories/macros in check, but it's good for overall health.

Done well without it, and not hungry.

That's great Aeg, apparently this post wasn't for you. Thanks for chiming in, though, I'm glad you've done well without it, whatever it may be.

I'm happy that intermittent fasting works well for you but it may not be advisable for everyone. Some people on certain medications may actually be putting themselves at risk doing so. That being said, I practice limited intermittent fasting for short terms from time to time and it works. However, for me it's not sustainable and I have noticed some practitioners experience rebounds quickly. Intermittent fasting is another good tool but not the only way...

No, it's not the only way. Anyone on meds should listen to their doctor, not me.

I like the simple just eating when hungry - really hungry...not because it is "food o'clock"

Everyone worries about what they should eat, how much they should eat, what macros they should eat. That really misses the point, you don't subtract by addition. Metabolisms aren't so fragile that you HAVE to eat something every time you feel a hunger pang. The human body is designed to go without food for extended periods of time, but food is FUN to eat, tastes good, and makes you FEEL good, and it's as much psychological as it is physical. Not a damn thing is sustainable if you don't freakin' SUSTAIN it.

Hey question, how often do you do the IF? Several times a week?

Daily.

Just ran across your profile and was very intrigued! I’ve recently started eating Keto and I’m very interested in finding out how you did the fasting. I’m trying to and need to lose around 100lbs. It’s encouraging to see how much you’ve lost!!

dietdoctor.com is a great place to start if you're new to LCHF dieting.

I totally agree, even though I'm doing the keto, still not having success until I started fasting

Right, Possible?, eating low-carb/keto with IF is the single most effective weight loss tool anyone could use.
