Fritzy 22's Journal, 23 February 2018

Only had hot chocolate yesterday morning and wasn't hungry all day. Didn't plan on eating anything, then all of a sudden around 7pm I remembered the Girl Scout cookies in the freezer in the garage. Ate most of a box of thin mints. Don't ask me why I bought GS cookies. I always do and it always ends badly.

just before Christmas, I bought popcorn from my Boy Scout nephew...couldn't resist...I was a Scout Leader for too many years (in charge of fund raising...lol) so I bought a LOT....when it got here I had a handful and gave the rest away (I had just weighed myself and had lost 2lbs)...best thing I could have done..by the next day, if it was still around, I would have been SO baaaaaad...lol

I tried a thin mints diet one time, 4 tm for breakfast 4 tm for lunch and only tea or coffee till dinner. I was sick of thin mints by the 3rd day! It wasn't my best plan.

The plan (yes, I actually had a plan) was to keep them in the freezer, in the garage and take a pack (1/2 box) in my backpack on the hikes I hope to be doing soon, and share with my fellow hikers. We'll see if the cookies last long enough - hopefully my next hike will be tomorrow!

I have learned to try to never buy anything that has a voice and can call you from the kitchen. :) Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Well at least when you purchased them it was for a good cause. I have 4 boxes in the freezer. Will make a summer pie for other people using as the crust.

Patty, no I have not tried that. I might do that this Sunday at my moms. I have peppermint and spearmint oil in my room for my headaches, those would make wonderful flavors. My mom also have erythritol so I could sweeten them a bit. MMMMM

Fox - these cookies called to me from the freezer in the garage. Had to go down 10 steps and walk to the furthest corner of the garage! Patty - I am hiking tomorrow and will take a pack (1/2 box) with me to share with the other hikers. I may also so a hike on Sunday and will do the same. The story doesn't end with the cookies because today is another day. I have a nice lady that cleans my house every other Friday and I like that she'll watch Bobby and the kitties if I go somewhere. Went to Costco and Winco. Didn't buy anything there, BUT called in to my favorite Chinese place on the way home and picked up lunch for me and Kathy who always works right through lunch. So have to add sesame chicken and fried rice in for today. Good thing, so far, at least, is I only ate about 1/4 of it.

Granted, we live in rural Alaska and don't get many people at our front door, but I made a little sign, laminated it and tacked it to the house by the door bell. It said " BEFORE YOU RING...We don't BUY anything. We don't SIGN anything. WE don't discuss RELIGION or POLITICS". I thought about adding "We don't even answer the door", but thought better or it. You'd be amazed how many people read it and turned away :) Maybe you need one that says, "I don't buy GS cookies!" :)

My girls were in Scouts for ten years. I was the Cookie Mom from the first year and both the leader and the Cookie Mom from the next nine. I feel no guilt at all when I fix the little cherubs with a steely gaze and tell them that I am a diabetic with Celiac Disease. I learned this heartless response straight from the higher ups in the Girl Scout organization. Details of my change in attitude are not secret, but few are interested.
