I've been gluten free for over 10 years. Trying to eat what I want & stay within the perimeters; tough. I'm supposed to be on a Paleo diet and Eating for my Blood Type. I need to shrink my appetite cause I've been eating too much.
I am not working outside the home any longer and will be 69 soon. I'm a grandmother, but have lost several loved ones lately and do admit that it has affected me. So cooking GF/Paleo has given me license to eat more. It's not working. I want to weight under 150#.

Hello everyone
N.P. thomas: I've been on FS for about a year. About 10 years ago I STOPPED eating white flour and white sugar. In a matter of a few months, the "bloat" was gone. I have maintained my weight (basically still the same I was at 20). I may just be lucky, but I do credit a gluten free diet to my success.
However, I have been exercising 4 days a week with a trainer and have gained muscle. So when I go on the scale, the number is not pleasing to me. But my clothes fit well. You have to find your own center. I recently read, that it's ok to eat what you want when you want, just don't overeat. Boo, today I had ice cream.

Hello everyone

Hi all, I’m new to FS and I’m not sure if I’m using this correctly, but anyway, here’s my story.
So I’ve always put on weight really easily, but have always been able to lose it just as quick. This saw me adopting an attitude to exercise and healthy eating that can be described at best as ‘erratic’ - smashing out exercise for a couple of weeks, losing the pounds and then reverting to type.
But as I get older (I’m 37) I’ve noticed that the putting on weight remains easy, but the losing it is getting much more difficult. And now, I’m the fattest I’ve ever been at 216lbs and I’m thoroughly ashamed of myself. I’m quite lucky in that I’m tall and broad so I can carry the weight ok, but it’s more the shame I feel when I look in the mirror. I know my problem - fast food and too much alcohol, and as I was single for a while and living alone, I always convinced myself that it wasn’t worth cooking a meal for one...
But today is the day I change, for good. No more famine or feast, but instead a sustained and achievable approach to diet and exercise that will see me not only lose the weight, but keep it off long term too. I still love a beer, and know that when I’ve had a few I’ll inevitably fall off the wagon and cave in to a takeaway, but as long as this becomes the exception and not the norm then hopefully I’ll be on the right track.
Anyway, sorry for rambling, but I’m feeling a bit low and felt the need to verbalise how I feel about my weight.

Looking for new buddies :)
Same here! I was gunho early in the year; now that Spring/Summer is here, I just can't get motivated to exercise or eat smaller portions. I eat the right foods, just too much and too many carbs.
And, most importantly, I have a wedding to attend in June!!

I understand that kind of information. Had I stuck with it, I would have had a degree in Nutrition; Alas I couldn't do the math!!! But that's where my interest ly. And I can attest to that info; just tonight I cooked a beef roast and my oh my, I am truly satisfied and am NOT looking for dessert. Yea!

Advice on curbing my appetite
Thank you all for your advice. I am doing better; eating slower, counting carbs and yes, eating more fat. It's working
